Pritzker again says he’s not looking at another stay at home order
Tuesday, Nov 3, 2020 - Posted by Rich Miller * Gov. Pritzker was asked yet again yesterday whether he was considering another stay at home order…
Earlier, Pritzker spoke about the different levels of IDPH mitigation. Click here to see the three state tiers. * Later, Amy Jacobson of WIND said that “a pretty reliable source told us that the plan is to move the whole state back to Phase 3 after the election.” She asked if that was true…
I’m so old I remember when the prevailing conspiracy theory was this would all somehow disappear after the election.

I must be ancient, as I remember when the virus would go away when it became warm outside.
- Bruce( no not him) - Tuesday, Nov 3, 20 @ 8:04 am:
I’m counting on this ending after the election. Otherwise, as Dr Fauci says, it will go into 2022
- Chatham Resident - Tuesday, Nov 3, 20 @ 8:26 am:
If we actually do have another stay-at-home order, this time I will not be surprised if those State Employees that have already been brought back to the office and not working remote (e.g., all Secretary of State, many Stratton Building employees) will still be reporting to work in the office daily. With no remote work again.

Still hearing the “it’ll all go away after the election”. Be great if it did, but I don’t think that’s what those folks mean.

== I’m so old I remember when the prevailing conspiracy theory was this would all somehow disappear after the election.==
Rich, given a comment in your early Election Day thread, you don’t have to be very old to remember this.
I have actually continued to see people continue to say this will all go away tomorrow. The long lines at the testing centers say different. I wish I could stay at home more than I do now -like Chatham Resident, I’m in the office daily and I don’t see that changing.

Amy -
The mitigation plan is written down. Whether we go back to Phase 3 all depends on whether you and Dan Proft and the rest of the conservative leaders tell folks to start raking masks and social distancing seriously.
30,000 people have been infected as a result of Trump rallies and 700 have died.
Help us help you and your followers stay alive.

We are rounding the corner on the conspiracy theorist in chief today.

Well, I hope Illinois does not have to stay at home, but there are not very many tools in the proverbial box. European countries have locked down one by one. I fervently hope we have other ways to contain the virus, but I am not sure what those will be.

COVID isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. We have had students learning in person since school started. No school spread and I like several on staff are high risk.
Masks. Work.

===I remember when the virus would go away when it became warm outside===
The warm weather certainly helped with the reduced mobility of droplets in more humid conditions. But go away it didn’t…COVID related deaths in the US were at a low of just over 500/day around the July 4 holiday, and are now hovering at 850/day and on a slight rise.

I understand the Governor doesn’t want another stay at home order to happen. I just can’t see how the numbers are going to go down if there’s not 100% buy in on these mitigation guidelines. It seems everyday there’s another lawsuit or someone wants to use their science over the State. Are other States that are making the same kind of guidelines have this much pushback?
Will we become the society that just sits at home at watches the number of people dying going up day by day?

Amy Jacobson’s “pretty reliable source” was wrong? Shocker!!!

100% agree. I’m not sure what else we are waiting for. Cases and deaths are at all an all time high with no end in the near future.
I have two thoughts - are we waiting until after the election to begin reimposing the stay at home order?
Has the political spectrum really taken this much of a stronghold on our culture that we are afraid to make the right move in order to protect future votes?
I hope we can resolve this soon, but I remain skeptical.

@Smile Politely:
See The Plan.
It is a double-edge sword. It prevents Chicago from arguing for a carve-out, it also restrains Pritzker from acting more agressively.
That said, we have learned a lot about the virus since the plan was adopted. it would be wise to review that data, seek input from stakeholders, and modify the plan accordingly.
Also, you can probably expect new guidance from the CDC.

Lemme guess, he lives in Plainfield and owns a pool./S

I don’t think we’ll go with a stay home measure because it is not needed. There is no reason all economic activity cannot continue except places where masking is not possible (bars, restaurants, beauty treatments like lip threading, dentists). Dentists and beauticians can probably be handled with other PPE.
What we can do is issue warnings and tickets for not masking or inappropriate masking (i.e. chin level, not over nose, holes in mask etc.) We can use rapid tests for nursing homes, schools, and daycares like U of I does. At the federal level we can try to get a much larger amount of (K)N95 out into the public.

Is Region 1 potentially rolling back to phase 3 misinformation then? I’m not familiar with mystateline but saw it pop-up on a feed.

@Cermak-
There is still a lot of economic activity when non-essential businesses are closed and essential businesses remain open.
What was lost in restaurant sales was largely recovered in grocery store sales during the last shelter-in-place order.

Tier 3 =/= Phase 3

Curiously, is this the same reporter that was banned from attending the Governor’s coronavirus marketing campaign dubbed “Daily updates” until a lawsuit was filed on her behalf? Didn’t the Governor also remark negatively on her quality as a reporter.

===…Governor’s coronavirus marketing campaign dubbed “Daily updates”…===
Please, wear a mask, for your sake if you’re going to mouth breathe like this.
It’s seriously foolish to think there’s a marketing campaign other than trying to save lives and warn people of the dangers as more people are infected or worse.
===… also remark negatively on her quality as a reporter.===
The governor as a point of his office might not be best to rate it, but the quality of her reporting is as good as a biased, partisan radio host can be, lol
- PK - Tuesday, Nov 3, 20 @ 3:33 pm:
You got it Oswego Willy…and the Illinois Governor asserted himself and said: “Its not political.”

The virus infects in a partisan way?
You need to tell Dr. Fauci.

Take that naivete badge of honor with her interest to any Illinois state line.

Why does he expound on his answer to Amy? He should have just said “no” and moved on.
