Pay up, DeVore
Monday, Nov 30, 2020 - Posted by Rich Miller
* Remember this nonsense?…
* Click here for background if you need it, but here’s a pic of the governor and the First Lady celebrating Thanksgiving last week. The governor was in his Chicago home and Mrs. Pritzker was in Florida…
Since it’s the holidays, I would prefer that the $1,000 check be sent to the Dani Rubin Kater Memorial Fund for COVID Care…
The Community Foundation of Macon County has announced a new memorial fund in memory of the late Danielle “Dani” Kater, 30, of Bloomington, Ill. Dani died Nov. 3 of COVID-19 complications; she is McLean County’s youngest coronavirus victim. Dani had no pre-existing health conditions and was not affiliated with a long-term care facility.
The Dani Rubin Kater Memorial Fund for COVID Care will support and provide services and resources devoted to battling the coronavirus pandemic.
Dani’s parents, Tina and Bob Rubin, remember her as always being a kind, studious and passionate person. She was their only child.
You can click here to contribute. I will match DeVore’s $1,000 if he surprises the world by actually honoring his pledge.

“Operation Thanksgiving Tyrant Track”
Personally, my family had more than enough food, while most retail stores that were closed Thanksgiving day were open bright and early Friday.
If that’s tyranny, we’re gonna be okay.

Good on you Rich. Dig him good, he deserves our disgust.
- Jocko - Monday, Nov 30, 20 @ 10:19 am:
After his months-long grift with local restaurateurs, DeVore should be good for it.
- Back to the Future - Monday, Nov 30, 20 @ 10:31 am:
The Foundation sounds like a timely and important way to do something productive about this terrible virus that has been so destructive to so many families.

==while most retail stores that were closed Thanksgiving day==
Hopefully after the pandemic many of these retail stores that closed on Thanksgiving (e.g., Walmart, Best Buy, etc.) that haven’t in the past can remain closed on the holiday to give employees a day off and at least a chance to be with their families.

What is wrong with this guy? He’s literally trying to kill the people who listen to him.
- Rep Z. - Monday, Nov 30, 20 @ 10:48 am:
Done.

What a piece of [banned word][banned punctuation]. Zero chance he pays but good on you and JB for calling his idiotic bluff. Personally I had a great Zoom Thanksgiving. Wasn’t much of a sacrifice for one year.
- JoanP - Monday, Nov 30, 20 @ 10:58 am:
You just know he’s going to try to weasel out of this by saying they were “in” celebrating, not “out” celebrating.

Former DeVore client, Fox Run Restraurant in Springfield announced over the weekend it’s closing permanently. I wonder if legal fees had anything to do with it?
- Rudy’s teeth - Monday, Nov 30, 20 @ 11:13 am:
Perhaps the dye from DeVore’s multiple tattoos caused brain damage.

The matching challenge is brilliant!
Hats off to you Rich!

Thank you, Rich. This needed to be said.

Maybe, but I think it had more to do with the substandard service and food quality.

Long before the pandemic, this was my experience as well.

That didn’t apply to at least 4 of the restaurants we lost.

===That didn’t apply to===
Maybe, but that guy put up a GoFundMe with a goal of raising $100,000 and ended up raising only $485. Says a lot about him, if you ask me.

Fox Run also had a “killer” location … this ia the 3rd or 4th place in the Shields Shadow to go tap.

Over the holidays I had the opportunity to chat with a restraunt owner of 38 years. Workaholic. He generates 25% of his annual revenue from thanksgiving eve thru New Years. He is worried he isn’t going to make it.

That was very nice of the Governor and his wife to share that photo.
Let us know when the $1000 shows up.

Rich- the Memorial Fund doesn’t seem to have a page that tabulates the total given. Can you keep us all posted on progress? Great idea.
- Dotnonymous - Monday, Nov 30, 20 @ 2:09 pm:
Please let us know when Devore pays up…or tries to crawfish on you… or escapes to Wales.
- Mama - Monday, Nov 30, 20 @ 2:44 pm:
Thank you Rich for this positive post. Hope your Memorial Fund gets lots of money.

== Maybe, but that guy … ==
I was thinking of Augie’s, American Harvest, Feed Store, etc.

Thanks Rich, Was having a pretty bad day and this put a smile on my face. DeVore and his antics have been a pain for the last nine months. He along with Darren Bailey are dangerous for Illinois. Let him put his money where is mouth is.
- Notorious RBG - Monday, Nov 30, 20 @ 9:27 pm:
Not going to lie, when I saw the headline I was hoping he finally got hit with sanctions.

It’s awful. So let’s get a federal bill to help these folks.
While we had a great Thanksgiving at home, it was tough as my MIL had to have it alone. She had folks bring her food, but it was still tough with Steve (FIL passed away over the summer) gone (non-Covid), but gone.
My father had two family members bring him food, but he was alone.
My mother got to have it with one friend at 6 feet apart.
Four different states, but we all have the same problems. Help them all by following the guidelines for a few more months.
