I haven’t really thought about it even being winter until today. We didn’t get a lot of snow overnight but it’s the most I’ve seen on the ground since the season began.
As far as meteorological winter is concerned, winter has only 38 days left, so, .

@ Old Timer - Long slog ahead for Blackhawks fans. At least they have gone pretty much head first to the play the kids movement. Bulls aren’t any good, Cubs will be below average in a dreadful division.
Break out the South Side Hitmen gear. They are the only hope for Windy City sports teams this year.
I see you got my rent check. Living in your head, it’s boring, but it’s nice to have options.
Thank you to Jon Lester, a man who bought drinks for the city, he should never have to pay for a meal or drinks in Chicago again.
More and more, I’m grateful to the 25 on the roster that brought the Cubs a World Series championship

Wow- real winter is suddenly here with single-digit temps this morning after snow last night. Sun is shining and since I’m going nowhere today, I’ll drink coffee and ponder the pardon issued for Urlacher’s brother. Didn’t see that one coming.
==Bulls aren’t any good, Cubs will be below average in a dreadful division.==
The Bulls aren’t good, but it’s nice to see them look like an actual NBA team again. Amazing what happens when you hire a real head coach. And the front office hires Reinsdorf made were great, Karnisovas and Eversley look like really good hires.
- Friendly Bob Adams - Wednesday, Jan 20, 21 @ 9:06 am:
Agree it’s great that the Bulls are watchable again for the first time in quite a while. Sometimes they will have a whole quarter where they look a little more than competent.
Also agree that the Blackhawks have messed things up big time. Trying to get more mileage out of the aged Kane and Toews while adding a few low-priced youngsters won’t pay off. Sad to see Crawford having to retire.
- Grandson of Man - Wednesday, Jan 20, 21 @ 9:10 am:
Bears fans will be rooting for old man Brady this weekend.
When you get that plank of wood out of your own eye, let us know.
:)
They say hot goaltending at the right time wins Stanley Cups. Crawford was seemingly hot at the right times, a true Blackhawks legend. I hope his health continues to get better.

Having to pull myself back from grabbing the popcorn and watching/entertaining the drama in the comment section here is a different feel for this blog. I left FB for similar reasons so I shall refrain from feeding the trolls. Hurt people want to hurt people. And there are some who are, unfortunately, miserable.
On a more positive note, the sun is shining bright this morning here and positivity numbers and case counts are staying lower than they have been in awhile. Hoping that we can keep them that way!

I worry the improving Covid-19 statistics will further unleash the covidiots to abandon all caution and the we will be back to higher numbers.
Sisyphus anyone?
Happy to be a baseball fan and a Sox fan reading the paper today.

Wait until it snows in March and April in the Chicago area, like it’s done about the last 2 of 3 years or so… The other day it was snowing while the sun was shining. Today, 18 degrees at 1015hrs.

Illinois-centric … now that Trump is on the plane and won’t attend the Inaugural, does Quinn get a residual for that? /s

Life sometimes presents us with simple, subtle tests of character.
To ignore Rich’s request that we “be kind” is to publicly fail one such test.

The painfully slow game of musical chairs on the Northside for Jan Schakowsky’s Congressional seat continues.
Steans bows out, Cassidy expands her base, and Biss attempts to get back in the line-up with his bid for mayor of Evanston.
Will remap be the year? I doubt it.
Sid Yates held this seat for over 4 decades, I doubt Schakowsky steps down at only 76 years old.
Anyone have an inside view?

The only time I will be happy being a Sox fan again is when the headline reads: Tony La Russa Fired Again.
- Friendly Bob Adams - Wednesday, Jan 20, 21 @ 11:33 am:
Ducky- Agreed, but LaRussa is more likely to self-destruct rather than be fired by Reinsdorf.
- Skeptic - Wednesday, Jan 20, 21 @ 11:50 am:
“Tony La Russa Fired Again.” Baseball has the “Mendoza Line” for batters, maybe there should be a “Billy Martin line” for Managers?
