There is quite a bit of Post Trump Shock Disorder, but I feel better already.

Yes. But still on guard. I fear the smart crazies. They will wait till we stand down and then strike.

Finally started exhaling. It’s been a brutal six years, starting in January 2015. It’s been eight years crammed into six, with four under Rauner and four under Trump. Abysmal and cruel governance, the worst in our history. Glory hallelujah, and special thanks to the very many who persevered and worked hard to win.
Are the justices of the Supreme court the only people in our Republic expected to wear a uniform? they all had their robes on. Do the supreme court justices of the state of IL also wear their robes to government events?
1) are you using the same name, or are you a sock puppet changing names to be ridiculous
2) if you think it’s smart…yikes.
To the post,
Thanks to the ILNG, I am breathing a bit better, the sorting out of a failed governor here in Illinois, a petty and damaging president (by any measure with insurrection included) and the lack of protesters now realizing, maybe, they were led astray and its time for realty.
We need healing, my hope as I feel better we get there, today was a strong start to that

Dear Lurker. These crazies are almost certainly white. Not all of us are crazy. Starting to know how a peaceful Muslim feels.
It’s not going to happen, but boy would I love some acknowledgement or apology from the ilgop congressional delegation (mostly lahood and bost) for their role in this. I see from lahood’s twitter he’s already pretending like him signing on to that brief to overturn the election never happened.
We need healing and unity, but I don’t think that happens without accountability and seeking forgiveness.
I’m so glad everything has stayed peaceful and gone smoothly today. There’s still a lot of work to do.
==Are the justices of the Supreme court the only people in our Republic expected to wear a uniform? they all had their robes on. Do the supreme court justices of the state of IL also wear their robes to government events?== I think that was for warmth.
What a waste of time and resources. Of course if the ING didn’t have much else going on, I guess it was good practice for them and they did get a free lunch out of it. The plywood on the windows was definitely a silly over-reaction especially with the price of plywood these days. Maybe they can donate it to a local habitat build or something useful.
Duuuude, the America I grew up in never featured armed rioters threatening a statehouse (Michigan) or fur-clad rioters busting through windows at the nation’s capitol with spears and nooses threatening to lynch the VP. I totally agree that his should not be normalized. Maybe try talking first to the people with the weapons and rope. Or those who incite them into action.
Reminds me of the y2k bug:
preventative measures were taken,
so there was no issue,
and because there was no issue,
people said the preventative measures were an overreaction.
I hope that our new Attorney General’s will now seriously address the source of the problem and root-out the apocalyptic white nationalist movement that struck on January 6.
I think we have to realize that part of the effort behind mobilizing the ING was to discourage the likelihood of violence. When we look back on 1/6 we quickly realize that we didn’t do nearly enough to prepare for an obvious threat. Making that same mistake at our State Capitol and in DC after the events of two weeks ago would have been unconscionable. A peaceful inauguration was the best possible outcome. But unfortunately the individuals who felt compelled to storm the U.S. Capitol are still out there.
The crazy true believers got a taste fed by lies and spineless excuse makers. It will be hard to convince them of the real facts. Hope Dominion wins some massive dollars and those DC rioters get serious jail time. The editorial board response to Sen Ron Johnson is a great start. The Georgia SoS and election official were terrific. Like Carl Sagan said extraordinary claims need extraordinary data not just slogans. Go to court and prove it. I am afraid the crazies feel that simply yelling loud, swearing, and making threats work, cause it has for many people.

They’re going to make Tony LaRussa squeeze himself into a White Sox uniform this year. That’s not gonna be pretty.

Sure have. The massive violent Trump riot turned out to be…two guys from southern Illinois who were only there out of curiosity.
