I got a $21 off coupon for Jewel in the mail. The normal stuff–liquor, lottery, bus passes, etc– are not covered by the coupon, but so is “liquid dairy.” I find that very odd.
My favorite line delivered by Jonathan Frakes is “Pay a man enough money and he’ll walk barefoot through [a very hot place].” It’s even better that it is from a Disney cartoon.
Between all methods, I’ll easily hit a several hundred … and I’m not counting the car warranty salesmen.
In person … maybe 120-150, and 60 of those are church members, 25 the various people I had deal with repairing and selling a house, some grocery store clerks, and the others either family or very close friends.
We take precautions but aren’t hiding in our home. We likely had a number of exposures a year ago December and January from friends that traveled to the Far East and caught it, but so far we haven’t gotten it. Now if we could just get the vaccine …
Wife was exposed last week and so far no symptoms. We went to get a test at the Waukegan site and what a mess. Previously 3 times, in and out, easy peasy. This time, had to sign up on a IDPH web based site via my phone while in the car and while in line. Not very tech savy so asked to just file out form like before. Not available. Had to sign up. Wife has an older phone so was unable to sign up. Spent about 45 min signing up both of us on my phone, had problems because not tech savay as well as big thumbs. Felt sorry for people behind me. Staff was not very helpful and kept saying how you doing but couldn’t help with actually signing up. Understand about advancement with TECH but they need to offer other options in case you do not have the tools to sign up or do not want to take the time. Was 9th in line but still took 1 hour total. Feel sorry for those who do not have the tools and will be turned away according to staff I talked to.

Hopefully by this fall things will look much better for us on the COVID front, so we can put our rusty social skills back to use. But masks and other mitigation measures might be with us for a while.
Antioch’s own Kyle Rittenhouse cannot be found by the court in Kenosha. That cash bail that cops are screaming works so well apparently has failed and now a multiple killer is on the loose https://twitter.com/DRoseTV/status/1357070052646912009

Sad news. Blue Room Stream’s Twitter feed is reporting that Tony Leone has passed away.
Working a liquor store on the weekend I actually see a fair amount of people and then there are the people at drive thrus which probably hits 15 people.
I imagine my primary conversation starter will be who is a good boy? Do you want your ears scratched?

When the anniversary of our household locking down rolls around, I think I’ll count up the number of people with whom I spoke in the preceding year.
Phone, zoom, curbside pickup, everything.
I won’t hit 100.
I wonder if it’ll even reach 50.

That clip always cracks me up. I’ve seen it used to demonstrate what it’s like talking to a young child, and that’s also extremely accurate.

@MrJM, Don’t forget the number of people you reach here.

Lori Lightfoot’s floor leader in the Chicago City Council just quit that post. With crime way up, she’s looking like a one-term mayor.

Nice hard fought win for the Illini at Indiana last night, despite overly aggressive officiating.

It’s going to be a whole new thing, recalibrating the art of conversation, without seemingly playing 20 questions with your nearest and dearest.
Still, there’s so much catching up to do.
Also, if you aren’t checking out @MisterJayEm on the twitter, you are less for it. Restaurant quality.

Once the masks go away, it’s going to be hard to stop mumbling about people while out in public.

DuPage– The coupon worked for butter. I didn’t buy ice cream. It also worked on salmon steaks, lemons, capers and some other stuff.
