Dozens of southern Illinois Republican county chairs “condemn” Kinzinger’s actions

Thursday, Feb 4, 2021 - Posted by Rich Miller

* Press release…

Southern Regional Republican County Chairmen Condemn the Actions of Congressman Adam Kinzinger against President Donald J. Trump

In a Southern Regional Zoom Meeting on January 19th, 2021 of Illinois County Chairmen, it was agreed that the acts of US Representative Adam Kinzinger of the 16th Congressional District should not go unnoticed but rather, should be condemned.

Adam Kinzinger Refuses to consider claims of Illegality and fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election evidenced by his statement released on January 6, 2021, Representative Kinzinger was dismissive of claims of voter fraud stating “the will of the people was made clear—Joseph R. Biden will be the 46th President of the United States {} … our Constitution, was upheld.”

Adding insult to the appalling injury already felt to the thousands of voters in Southern Illinois that supported President Trump and our beloved Constitution, Representative Kinzinger congratulates Joe Biden on his Inauguration, just days after calling for President Donald Trump’s Impeachment.

The baseless public claims that Representative Kinzinger has made against President Trump do not reflect the beliefs of the Southern Regional Chairmen nor largely those that we represent. It has certainly taken its toll on our Country and our Party.

We encourage One Mind One Strength and No Division. We Thank President Trump for his Service to this Country, and wish the New Administration All the Best.

To Date the following 36 Republican Chairmen/ leaders have echoed their concerns and concurrence from the following counties throughout the 12th, 13th and 15th Congressional Districts in the Southern Region of State of Illinois:

    Alexander;Christian;Clay;Clinton;Crawford;Cumberland;Edwards;Effingham;Fayette;Franklin;Gallatin; Greene;Hamilton;Hardin;Jackson;Jasper;Jefferson;Johnson;Lawrence;Madison;Marion;Massac; Montgomery;Perry;Pope;Pulaski;Randolph;Richland;Saline;Shelby;Union;Wabash;Washington;Wayne; White; and Williamson.

Whew. So much to unpack there. Have at it. I’m a bit busy with other stuff.

So much random capitalization–it’s like reading Winnie the Pooh. About the same elementary school grade level rhetoric, too.

Guess the 60 some losing lawsuits don’t mean anything to them.

Just because I believe creamy peanut butter is better than crunchy doesn’t make it a fact. In my scenario, my belief is irrelevant, because who cares what I think about peanut butter. In their scenario, their beliefs are harmful and dangerous to America and its Democracy.

  7. - Anonymous - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:32 pm:

Yeah but, Cook, Lake, Kane and DuPage swing voters won’t condemn it all when he runs for the Senate in a few years.

  10. - TaxTheMemes - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:35 pm:

They seem to have a pretty one-sided notion of “baseless public claims”

  11. - The Old Man - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:36 pm:

Gosh, just checked, NONE of these counties are in Kinzinger”s district! Somebody get these chairmen a map of Illinois. Big Question; Did they poll their committeemen and women? Great job, you just needlessly played into the dem’s hands. Cannot ubnderstand why they did not hire DeVore and McHaney as lawyer abnd judge! Geez.

And this is why we’re stuck in the Democratic dumpster fire we’ve been in for decades. We deserve this.

Amazing that the Republicans just can’t figure it out.

As they say, “Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle with you.”

“…the baseless public claims that Representative Kinzinger has made against President Trump”

Baseless? Umm, perhaps they missed the 77 days post election and Trump’s efforts to steal the presidency. I might suggest they read this story (or the series) and then get back to those of us in the real world about how “baseless” Kinzinger’s claims are.

“One Mind One Strength and No Division”, yet Trump called the Republican’s in Georgia RINO’s ( Republican in name only). When will they learn?

  17. - Left Leaner - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:47 pm:

The tin hat vendors in southern Illinois must be making a killing right now.

  18. - TheInvisibleMan - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:49 pm:

    === When will they learn?===

    Can we be blunt here?

They will learn when it impacts them directly and personally.

Unfortunately, they are treading into such dangerous waters that the situation that would have to arise to cause them to learn is also likely going to have other non-life-continuing aspects to it.

  19. - Jibba - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:49 pm:

This thing reads like the succession statements from each of the Confederate states at the start of the Civil War. Ominously. I guess they’ll have to vote against AK next time /s

  22. - Cumberland Dem - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:51 pm:

I can’t with these downstate republicans. Every day they find a new conspiracy theory on TikTok and it spreads like wildfire. Unfortunately they represent the majority down here.

  23. - Pundent - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:58 pm:

The rants of the Southern Illinois and LaSalle County Republican chairmen would be understandable except for the fact that they are totally detached from reality. It is abundantly clear that but for a few notable exceptions, the Republican party is living in an alternative universe. It has caused them to lose the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives. And they’re now doubling down on the strategy.

  24. - Friendly Bob Adams - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:58 pm:

Interestingly, Google links this slogan to I Corinthians 1:10 “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”

  25. - Manchester - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:59 pm:

It’s pretty scary how a significant portion of our population believes that the election was stolen when it has no basis in fact. It seems like the Republican party has turned into a death cult feeding on itself and turning on everyone else like some rabid animal. They circle the wagons around wingnuts like Marjorie Taylor Greene and won’t support members who show courage, conviction and honor to truth.

  26. - Earnest - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:02 pm:

===One Mind One Strength and No Division

I believe it’s a paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 1:10 and “All the Best” is a paraphrase of a Trump statement. There’s probably some kind of far-right reference here but I’m not up on the terminology.

  27. - CubsFan16 - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:03 pm:

The part I can’t get past the most is the line about Kinzinger congratulating Biden effectively being a sign of Kinzinger’s treason. These people are so distanced from reality it is both embarrassing and sad.

  28. - hisgirlfriday - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:03 pm:

I remember hearing a couple years ago from a friend who is plugged into McLean County Republican politics that there were warnings given by Rodney Davis’s people to the more moderate faction of Republicans to get on the Trump bandwagon or get out of the party. I took it with a grain of salt then but looks like Rodney’s people are now saying the same thing publicly. Yikes.

  29. - Can - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:05 pm:

    Friendly and Earnest,

As Donald Trump would say, “One Corinthians One Ten, that’s the whole ballgame.”

  30. - Grandson of Man - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:12 pm:

How many know the election was not stolen but say it is just to hold onto power and continue exploiting the misled and misinformed? As leaders it is their responsibility to tell the truth about something as vital to our country as the peaceful transfer of power.

  31. - zatoichi - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:20 pm:

If the chairs think Kinzinger should “consider claims of Illegality and fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election”, perhaps they should provide the data proving their claims in a format solid enough to be presented in court. It is a shame that the chairs must be holding the proof back because no one else seems to have found it.

  34. - Candy Dogood - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:22 pm:

There isn’t enough K-12 funding in the world to fix this problem, but at least there will probably be good music at the book burnings when those start up.

“the will of the people was made clear—Joseph R. Biden will be the 46th President of the United States {} … our Constitution, was upheld.”

  37. - Anonymous - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:36 pm:

Representative Kinzinger Is A standup gentleman that’s doing the right thing the rest the Republicans need to think about what they’re saying and doing to this country you’re ruining it stupid Republicans

  38. - don the legend - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:36 pm:

Grandson. I know you know this and it’s so disappointing. They are not leaders. With safe districts they don’t need to lead, they just need to feed their constituents the crap they want to believe and they can get reelected easily.

    i.e. Eastern Bloc, LaHood.

  39. - Papa2008 - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:39 pm:

Jibba - I think you may be closer to the truth than anyone wants to admit. I’m in the heart of this lunacy. The desire to secede from Chicago has already been plainly expressed, and voted on. How far away is complete secession? On January 6th the shots were taken at Ft. Sumter. Is the next Lincoln in the White House?

  40. - Don't Bloc Me In - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:41 pm:

    “our beloved Constitution”

    lolol.

  41. - DuPage Saint - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:56 pm:

@Dupage Moderate if you are a moderate fromDuPage you must be a RINO and hence not a true Republican. I wish these people would either become Dixiecrat or Know Nothing. I hope we lose to Congressional seats and take them from downstate or betterGerrymander to hem into northern districts somehow.

  42. - Jocko - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:58 pm:

I thought I was reading a article from “The Onion”. This seems close to the loyalty that street gangs demand. WOW!

  46. - Frank talks - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:06 pm:

    Such good theater.
Reap what you sow. Kinzinger played the same hostile narrative for last three years stoking the fire. Don’t feel bad now that he’s had a change of heart, looking to run for statewide office, and getting burned by the same torches he helped light.

  47. - Patricia Vaca - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:15 pm:

“Yeah but, Cook, Lake, Kane and DuPage swing voters won’t condemn it all when he runs for the Senate in a few years.”

It’s a gamble for Kinzinger. Assuming he gets through a primary, will he draw in more suburban voters (who had previously voted for Duckworth) than the downstate GOPers who will vote third party/not vote.

  48. - Stix Hix - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:19 pm:

==As Donald Trump would say, “One Corinthians One Ten”==

    Can–you made my day. LOL!

  49. - Norseman - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:20 pm:

More proof that the GOP is beyond salvation. A majority of its leadership is either irrational or corrupt.

  50. - Cheryl44 - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:22 pm:

It’s a shame the Party of Lincoln has turned into this.

  51. - Father Ted - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:26 pm:

I have always been just to the right of fiscally moderate and am socially moderate. I consider myself independent but have probably voted for more Republicans than Democrats in my lifetime.
I’m in alignment overall with Kinzinger’s position on Trump. I am disgusted with the state of the Republican party based on actions like this and Donald Trump Jr’s “It’s our party now” statement.

  52. - Dotnonymous - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:27 pm:

“One Mind One Strength and No Division”

That comes with a hand salute… doesn’t it?

  53. - JoanP - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:27 pm:

= One Mind One Strength and No Division=

A bit of googling reveals that this phrase is part of the theme song of the Apostolic World Christian Fellowship.

I have no idea what significance this has, if any.

  54. - Ducky LaMoore - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:37 pm:

In other news, a bunch of wing nuts release a bizarre statement. News at 11.

  55. - Independent - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:40 pm:

If anyone were to ask me why I’m no longer a Republican I would point at this marginally literate Confederate press release without saying a word.

If Kinzinger wants to win a statewide primary it’s probably best for him to wait until ‘26. It will take several years for sane Republicans to retake the party, and that may be too optimistic.

  56. - Past the Rule of 85 - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:49 pm:

I recently read a quote from FDR that I think applies to today’s GOP Trump cult. “No man can tame a tiger into a kitten by stroking it. There can be no appeasement with ruthlessness. There can be no reasoning with an incendiary bomb.”

  57. - Demoralized - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:51 pm:

The horror. Honoring the result of an election and congratulating the winner. By all means he should be kicked out of the party.

The Republican Party has become a joke. It has turned into a cult. And that’s just sad.

  58. - JS Mill - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:52 pm:

Took me a bit but I think I figured this out…

Somebody slipped them a copy of the Nuremberg Code and said it was the constitution. easy to clear up, we just need to send them the US Constitution STAT (banned punctuation).

From 1938 Nazi propaganda “One People, One Nation, One Leader”

    The past is prologue.

The crazy part is they think they are patriots yet their every word and deed is antithetical to patriotism.

  59. - Independent - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:53 pm:

After their goofball rant they had the class and decency to “wish the New Administration All the Best”, so there’s that.

Perhaps the random capitalization is more clever than one would first think. It could contain a secret message for QAnon followers to decipher.

  60. - Now What? - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:59 pm:

If I’m Kinzinger, I lay low for a while and let the QAnon party really develop it’s platform beyond “What About?” and “Because!” I will thoroughly enjoy watching the ILGOP message this to victory.

  61. - thoughts matter - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 5:26 pm:

Bipartisanship and statesmanship are as close to non-existing as can be. This is why the normal people have abandoned the Republican Party. It’s possible people have left their party affiliation alone so as to vote in primaries, but moderates are looking at the options and voting Democratic in the general election. I just cannot follow the logic that says push everyone out of the tent and then we will be able to elect more people like us. Quite honestly I’m terrified and disappointed that people still believe the extremists,

  62. - Lincoln Lad - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 5:31 pm:

Random capitalization must be some sort of code on the insurrectionist hotline. Also - they should just file lawsuits and let the court system see the evidence. Nobody’s done that yet…

  63. - Commisar Gritty - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 5:37 pm:

If you pick out all of the inappropriately capitalized letters, then rearrange them, it actually spells out the phrase “I can change my Pampers all by myself, I just choose not to.”

But seriously, that “one mind, one strength” bit sounds so Orwellian that you almost have to wonder if they’re trolling us.

  64. - hisgirlfriday - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 6:09 pm:

Looks like Kinzinger was the only IL GOP Congresscritter to vote to remove MTG from committees. Time for these party leaders to pass a double dog dare ya censure of Kinzinger.

  65. - X suburban mayor - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 6:11 pm:

The condimaton of theRepresentative further erodes the future of the Republican Party

  66. - OneMan - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 6:29 pm:

Oh no not Jefferson County, heck the township organization I was an officer of had about 3s to 4x the population of that county.
My High School was over half the size of Pope County

  67. - NorthsideNoMore - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 6:37 pm:

Kinzinger will have a very tough time in future if he seeks a statewide post. They will stay home if he is a candidate; anyone remember what some of the western county GOP did back in the Treasures race some years ago ?

  68. - Just A Dude - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 6:41 pm:

I looked for Macoupin county and was relieved to see that it was not listed…but Madison and Montgomery made the cut. OMG is in order. Neighborhood has went to the swamp, including the county of my Alma mater SIU-E. Incredible, downright depressing. I am a Democrat that has voted for only a couple of Republican’s over the past 40 years, but I sure hope the red party pulls itself out of this madness. Historical times I suppose.

  69. - lake county democrat - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 6:43 pm:

I respect Kinzinger, but unfortunately in 2021 (and for the foreseeable future) a vote for him for senate is a vote for *every* Republican from Mitch to Tommy Tuberville. There’s little he can bring to the table that would outweigh putting the GOP back in power, esp. as they have a good chance (despite everything) of taking the House in 2022.

  70. - Frank talks - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 7:01 pm:

Let’s see what they do now with the committee removal vote. Be lucky for the Dems to have a GOP County Chairs party that believes school shootings were staged and 9/11 was a hoax. Oh and let’s not forget the Jewish lasers lighting forest fires.

Again though Adam you may be moving correctly now but how many Marjorie’s in your district did you placate during the Obama and Trump administration. Feeding those conspiracies, until now you’ve realized you can’t win statewide being crazy.

  71. - Rural Survivor - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 7:39 pm:

I don’t know how the state Republican party can regroup for the next election. Trump’s election allegations are false. How does Kinzinger become a part of the future of the party? He’s correct about his assessment of the former President. He’s a voice of reason at an unreasonable time.

  72. - fivegreenleaves - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 8:35 pm:

This makes me thankful I’m a southern Illinois Democrat.

  73. - Nearly Normal - Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 8:37 pm:

Don the Legend–There are a lot of people in LaHood’s district who are not happy with the him. There were a lot of letters to the editor in the Pantagraph lambasting him after he signed on to the lawsuit about the election. My fear is that no Republican will run against him in the primary. Dems have not run a real competitor against him.
