In the later evening, the film “Running Scared” was on and I was able to catch the outstanding setting for the finale, the James R. Thompson Center, referred to as “the state building”.
I couldn’t help imagining a water park inside, or all the empty space “for activities”
Filmed in winter was also a nice touch for the now as the thaw begins.
If you are looking for a good read this morning I would suggest
The Murder Chicago Didn’t Want To Solve
In 1963, a Black politician named Ben Lewis was shot to death in Chicago. Clues suggest the murder was a professional hit. Decades later, it remains no accident authorities never solved the crime.
“Running Scared” was filmed when the State of Illinois Building was brand new and shiny. It looked amazing until the cracks began to show.
I always thought that Edgar pushed to rename the building so posterity would not assign the blame to him.
I feel for the workers stuck in the Thompson Center. It is not a good office building to work in.

The Dept of Labor’s Springfield offices will be moving to Lincoln Towers and near the capitol. They were previously in a rented building on South Spring:
The Thompson Center was formerly known as the State of Illinois Center or SOIC. The State of Illinois Building is across the street and is now known as the Bilandic Building.
While the SOIC was the setting for Running Scared, the SOIB was used in filming various scenes for The Untouchables.

OW: Plus it’s got one of the “best” You-Can’t-Get-There-That-Way travel sequences ever filmed on the L (along with the worst fake subway scene ever).

Feeling happy. I will be able to see my mom in the nursing home soon INSIDE, not through the window.

Does the Panda Express in the JRTC have a plaque on the wall saying, “Blago Once Ate Here.”

@OneMan -
Thanks for that link. I remember when Lewis was murdered and it was fascinating to read the story.
