CTA has the new Chicago-assembled rail cars out. Whenever we get back to taking transit in bulk, we’ll be able to enjoy that as a local(ish) product. They look snazzy too, I assume have that new car smell to go with it.
If you’re ever “out of pocket”, that’s when you realize best how great this place is during session, and it’s “one stop shop” way of going about its business. The 400lb gorilla unmatched.
To all that too… there’s such a normalcy feeling reading and watching these session days, and while it’s not full tilt normal, the normalcy surrounding these times and the business of governing gives me hope as we inch closer to safely being all together again, more and more like before times.
Lastly, before I toss this comment up, I’d like to throw in that the need to let off steam or anger, to lob verbal angst as a release valve, that might not catapult something changing, even if that type of pitch seems warranted. Hurling insults might not be best either, but if one needs to fling such rhetoric, one should remind others that letting their people go is compulsory.
Wanting to get out on one of our lakes, get a little motorboat or even one with a trolling motor and do some fishing. Shore fishing could work as well. Scoping things out right now, looking at fishing reports, etc.
Kind of bold for the agency to label that as “safe” when they are so understaffed that case workers/investigators are being assigned case loads two or three times the number that DCFS had to agree to as a result of one of the many times they’ve been sued because they’ve failed at their mission.
To an outsider it doesn’t look like DCFS or the Pritzker Administration or the General Assembly has any real interest in actually addressing this problem which means it’s just a matter of time before we’re collectively responsible for the death of a child and we all point fingers at whoever is easiest to blame.
Rep Tim Butler is throwing tantrums because his the Democratic Super Majority hurt his feelings by not calling his bill, but can’t muster any outrage at how we are setting up the Department of Children and Family Services for failure and creating the certainty that children will die because we’ve neglected our responsibilities.
@Cheryl44
My obnoxious calls were running as high as 18 a day when we started noting them in mid-February. One even spoofed my phone number to call me. Then we started answering, “Springfield Police Department, how may I help you?” Never heard a call hung up so fast. I figure they’re lying to me, I can lie to them.
To Cheryl444 and Behind the Scene: I had a telemarketer use my name and number to call me. I didn’t answer; I was afraid I might be on the other end! And what if I was? Was I truly in two places at once, or had I just entered The Twilight Zone?
In unrelated news, the dandelions survived the frost.
I just read the detailed article about Steve McMichael’s ALS diagnosis and rapid decline. It is very sad to contemplate what he and his family are dealing with right now.

Noticed a retweet of this DCFS Tweet on ScribbleLive:

a calendar throwing contest should be added to the annual Senate vs. House softball game. this would be fun.

My Caller ID just identified an unknown caller as “Telemarketer.” I have never seen that before. No, I did not pick up the phone.

Anyone know when will they know if they have to push the election back because of the census issue? And how far back it’s going to be pushed? Thanks

The McMichael news is very sad. He was always one of my favorite Bears. It is such an antithetical way to finish his life.
Thinking of him and his family.
