Monday, Jun 14, 2021 - Posted by Rich Miller * We raised over $23K to help this young lady pay some of her college expenses after her father died. There’s no doubt that Wordlsinger would’ve been so proud of Emma…

Sox in first place. Cubs in first place (tied). Cubs swept a three game series against the Cardinals. It’s all good.

Congratulations Emma, all of us that were able to help out in our own small way are very proud. Rich, thanks for the follow up post, it gave me that warm fuzzy feeling all over again.

Congratulations. Well deserved.
Today is the Army’s 246th Birthday. Happy Birthday.
It is also Flag Day, 244 years old.

Congratulations, Emma. Thanks to you, Rich, for a) giving us the opportunity to help her, and b) letting us know how she’s doing. I have no doubt she’ll make a great career.
In other matters, my favorite bookstore (Seminary Co-op in Chicago) reopened this weekend, and I spent a pleasant hour browsing and, of course, buying books. It was very nice to be back.

Yay, Emma!
I am seriously psyched about my eye doctor appointment tomorrow. I wear gas permeable lenses and am roughly a year late replacing them.

Congrats to Emma. If you go to her Twitter page, there’s a link to some impressive reporting for the DePaul paper. Her Dad would definitely be proud…

Well done, Emma (banned punctuation). Your dad made us better, individually (I took his comments on my words to heart) and the state in general. He would be so proud of you. Thanks for taking on a field in which you can make the world a better place. Looking forward to seeing you in action.

Congrats to Emma and the Oxnevad family, and to the state of Illinois for the gain of another talented journalist. I look forward to following her career both for the quality writing and because it will remind me of her dad.

Emma,
Sincere congratulations and best wishes.
Looking forward to seeing your work post graduation. How proud you must be, and how proud your family must be of you as you move forward.

Congrats, Emma.
Not to change the subject but the ugly, mostly windowed office building at the northeast corner of College and Monroe near the Capitol Complex has now been demolished and reduced to rubble. After existing since 1965 (according to the Sangamon County Recorder). For about the past year or so that building has been cordoned off presumably for asbestos removal. Definitely not surprised that building is gone as its support beams on the ground parking level was rusting. Many state agencies had offices in that atrocity over the years, including Governor’s Office of Citizens Assistance (but I can’t recall the others).
