Anyone heading to Deer Creek for Phish? Saw the Grateful Dead many times down/over there back in the day and am excited to see what the boys from Vermont bring to the Midwest. They are there all 3 nights this weekend.
Looks like it might be another day with smoky skies in parts of Illinois due to western wildfires. I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything like this. The west is burning, southern Europe is burning. It’s a very critical time. Hopefully we can start meeting the challenge this weekend by passing the infrastructure bill in DC and get the climate bill passed soon in Illinois.

Just a “marginal risk” at this point of severe thunderstorms mainly from I-74 northward later today. And I’ve heard on-off storm chances, possibly a few severe ones, for at least the northern half of Illinois most of early to mid-next week. As we approach the 1st anniversary of the 8/10/2020 derecho.
Illinois FOP and their anti vaccine mandate statement, you are not helping. you can have a policy for asking not to take it. that policy will include medical reasons. the rest is foolish and dangerous.
United Airlines has announced that it will mandate vaccines for all employees. The train has left the station, or maybe the plane has left the gate. Expect more companies to follow suit. I’m hopeful that real leaders will continue to guide us out of this mess.
feeling true dread as the Sox go into a series against the Cubs, especially after losing 2 to the Royals. of course, I always feel dread going against the Cubs and in their amusement park within an amusement park neighborhood.
By all accounts and observations the ATA Grand at WSRC is a rousing success this year. Lot’s people in the neighborhood, dollars are flowing. Just worried that virus is flowing as well. Staying to myself and avoiding the throng. Per my doc’s advice, back to masking, handwashing, etc. etc. “Even though you are vaccinated, just pretend it’s the peak of the pandemic again.”
Wonder how many cases will come from the Grand and if it will ultimately be a superspreader event.

I saw they are requiring masks indoors at the fair. The crowded beer tents and those getting in close to watch the bands might be a problem though.
