Governor Pritzker remains focused on guiding the state through COVID-19 by following the science, listening to medical experts, and is proud of all the Illinoisans who have been working together to fight the pandemic—his campaign message continues to reflect that.
This would be the first ad released under the campaign’s new management.
Pritzker: We’re ready to put the full weight of the state behind a full fledged response.
I’m gonna fight like hell for you in the weeks ahead.
We need the federal government to lead, follow or get out of the way.

Pritzker: This is not a time for politics. We have too much to do to save people’s lives.

Pritzker: We can defeat this thing in Illinois or do better than the other states because our people are just better at this. We’ve proven that.

I reject the premise of the question. The idea that this is a complete trade-off between keeping you healthy and making sure that we have an economy that’s moving forward.

Pritzker: We want to make sure we get every dose into every arm that we possibly can across the state as quickly as possible.

It hits on a good theme and mutes the Trumpkins call for politicizing “everything”, plus, as an incumbent above water it reinforces good thoughts to Pritzker.

This ad is prolly why in a big overall it’s going to be difficult to take the narrative away and make things political and divisive, even in the suburbs, as Pritzker will likely spend $300,000 a day, every day, to be like this ad wants him seen, and be ruinous to the eventual GOP nominee
It’s a pretty good ad concept with good production values. But 60 seconds is just way too long to impose upon viewers’ time in one shot. Most of us really don’t live our lives longing for campaign ads you know.
I was in my kitchen doing dishes this morning when the ad came on. When I heard the words “fight like hell for you” it stopped me and I listened. good ad.
Wow, they really found some pull quotes to make JB sound muscular. It’s a strong ad. And like I always say, being on the air at all (Especially when you’re the only game in town, give or take some Bailey radio ads) is more important than what exactly you say.

It’s intended to be run during pre-planned commercial breaks. There’s blocks of them that total 16 minutes every hour. No one needs to seek it out, or have anything else they’re doing- besides watching other ads- interrupted.
The ad is ok but the reality of JB violating his own pandemic orders complete with photos should invalidate the “tough” approach. But that all depends if a strong opponent would emerge with deep pockets.
I’d give it an A- but he is preaching to the choir with me. I don’t know why a guy with $3.5 billion wants these kind of headaches - I’d be on a beach somewhere - but I’m glad he does. The ad highlights what I like about him.

Seeing this brought me back to the time spent working from home and watching the COVID briefings last year. I appreciated the reality-based approach then, and this is a good reminder of why. Hopefully at election time people will remember those who fought the science-based approach tooth and nail (cough cough, DeVoreBaileyMiller, cough) and decide - with the benefit of hindsight and the delta, epsilon, zeta etc. waves behind us - which approach really helped the most Illinoisans in their time of need. Well done in my opinion.

Not sure it moves the needle for undecided voters or helps get turnout up for the Democratic base.
Sales pitches this early in campaigns have traditionally gone after voters that might be leaning against or on the fence with a candidate.
I suppose if you are going to spend $300,000 a day on “look at me” videos this is what we can expect to see for the next year or so.

I’d give it a solid A. It made me think how nice it was having a Governor that cared about the people not his political agenda. Living in Florida it’s just the opposite. We the people come second maybe third even though he makes it sound like we are first on his list.
The use of the calendar to cut to different snippets (done on the different days) reinforces that this has been going on for a while and Pritzker has been there, “every day”, working for Illinois.
I do like that editing done there, smooth and with multiple purposes

Do you think you were contradicting him? You can do a good job responding to COVID in absolute terms and 32 other people can do a better job in relative terms. But JB ain’t running against any of those other Governors, he’s running against the guy in the helicopter.

When it comes to doing the right thing for the collective future there’s not a single democrat I trust these days. Not one. Too much blind, power-hungry hive mind going on. I also trust very few Republicans. More or less, I think far less government and more personal responsibility and individualism is the answer.
Give the ad a C. Average.
I don’t particularly like Pritzker but so far I don’t mind him either. So far, he’s not your typical Palatine-like heavy handed extremist who is bent on exercising power. That part is refreshing. So far.
Are you one of those who needs to be told what to do, step by step? I know lots of those. There seems to be a systemic glut of those types today. Exhausting.
Or are you one of those that needs to tell others what to do? I have no desire to tell others what to do. There are various people who try to tell me what to do. Usually the types without children who try to tell you how to raise children. You know, scolds. They like to assume a lot also. That’s also exhausting but easy to ignore.
