* Pretty good line…
Democratic state Rep. La Shawn Ford agreed Monday that there needs to be a unified message. He acknowledged political tensions.
“What you have in Chicago, the mayor fighting with the governor, and the judges fighting with the police, and the mayor fighting with the prosecutors and the judges,” Ford told WMAY. “There’s a gang war between politicians. And so I don’t know how we’re going to be able to deal with the crisis at hand when politicians don’t come together and deal with the problems…”
Also, take some time today to read Evan Moore’s tweet thread, either here or here. It’s not what you’ll usually find and the longtime reporter is quite experienced in this topic.

Rep. Ford isn’t inhibited about calling out officials in his own party. That makes him unusual among politicians, and gives him credibility that the typical partisan pol lacks.

Lightfoot has been long on verbiage and short on action. Smart people judge politicians by what they do, not what they say. Too many say one thing, and do the opposite.

Seeing incompetence rather than only seeing racism is another way to view the Lightfoot situation. The lens being used affects the image.
- Southern Skeptic - Tuesday, Aug 10, 21 @ 10:16 am:
In reality it’s Lightfoot fighting with everyone. Is that a civil war?
- Dan Johnson - Tuesday, Aug 10, 21 @ 10:33 am:
Rep LaShawn Ford has been calling it straight for years.
- AlfondoGonz - Tuesday, Aug 10, 21 @ 10:34 am:
Rep. Ford is not a serious person. And this type of language, calling partisan squabbling a “gang war” while representing a district that would lend you believe he’d know better, is not helpful.
That said, Lightfoot has been the most disappointing politician of my lifetime.

Edit to above comment:
“intraparty squabbling”

===Gang war===
Why do I have a mental picture of Gov. Priztker making gang signs?
- Dotnonymous - Tuesday, Aug 10, 21 @ 11:33 am:
There’s a big difference between gang members and politicians…Politicians have bigger smiles and whiter teeth.

I want to know what the message is that will stop the violence…anyone?
- austinman - Tuesday, Aug 10, 21 @ 11:35 am:
Rep. Ford hit it right on the head, he just forgot one Tom Dart is going at with the County Board President, oh and Evans and Dart are going at it too. Complete mess
- NorthsideNoMore - Tuesday, Aug 10, 21 @ 11:56 am:
Ford right. Back in the day a lot of this used to stay under the tent, those days are gone. all kinds of folks going to get tossed under the bus in the primaries where there will be plenty of “fails” to point out.

Humans have been attacking one another individually and in carefully formed groups since the dawn of humanity…the only cure is to genetically modify our species?

Correction: It is all about trying and failing to control your turf.

Cain killed Abel and we’ve never improved.
