  1. - Grandson of Man - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 7:33 am:

Rough day at the office yesterday, so to speak. But, grateful for the blessing of a new day, and a chance to wipe yesterday’s slate clean and start anew. Yesterday had a great ending, with the passage of the climate bill. Great job, again, by all.

  2. - Contrarian - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 7:39 am:

So the reason Pritzker’s Rabine Tracker didn’t “venture forth” is because he was afraid of the Rabine supporters being unmasked…but the Prtizker tracker isn’t wearing a mask either? Pretty darn funny, if you ask me. This top of hypocrisy is exactly why half the state doesn’t believe anything JR Pritzker says anyway.

  3. - Give Me A Break - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 8:10 am:

“half the state doesn’t believe anything JR Pritzker says anyway”.

Well that means half the state does and those are the half that are making sure we don’t have to lock down and go backwards, meaning the adults are trying to make sure the kids throwing fits don’t ruin everything for everyone else.

  4. - Contrarian - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 8:11 am:

Give me a break: address the point - Pritzker’s guy wasn’t masked…typical “do as i say, not as i do” from ol’ JR.

  5. - Amalia - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 8:13 am:

It’s a beautiful day. that is until I read the exchange above. and so it begins.

  6. - Give Me A Break - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 8:14 am:

So he made a mistake, now will the genius anti mask anti vaccine g=gang admit they are making the same mistake?

  7. - 47th Ward - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 8:18 am:

He didn’t wear a mask and he didn’t go inside.

If he wore a mask, he might as well worn a Re-Elect Pritzker tee shirt too. Trackers are trained to be discreet. Anybody wearing a mask at a Rabine or Bailey event is going to stand out. Lol.

  8. - NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 8:21 am:

Yesterday’s Illinois Times had a Dave Blanchette intervew with George Ryan:

=== So the reason Pritzker’s Rabine Tracker didn’t “venture forth” is because he was afraid of the Rabine supporters being unmasked…===

Meh. It’s like going undercover with the seedy folks, you have to pretend you’re as insane so you’re not exposed until you want to be.

How did - Contrarian - know about this tracker?

  10. - NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 8:25 am:

Another CWLP/City of Springfield disaster during another special session day yesterday–but this time from the Illinois Times. Criticizing a new proposal to revive the long-stalled Hunter Lake project between Lake Springfield and Pawnee not as a secondary water source, but only for “lakeside recreation.” Meaning family farms and homes are uprooted so the city of Springfield could have another lakeside playground. Sigh.

  11. - Flyin' Elvis'-Utah Chapter - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 8:29 am:

Contrarion, I have it on good authority that the tracker is being funded by Mike Madigan.

…and the Masons. Yeah, can’t forget about the Masons.

  12. - Oswego Willy - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 8:34 am:

Pritzker, months ago, spent $400,000 just on Facebook ads.

How tasty would it be if any footage gathered, by total happenstance, ends up in a “positive” ad in the Trumpkin primary, designed to help Rabine win.

That would be some tasty trolling, next level even.

  13. - Flyin' Elvis'-Utah Chapter - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 8:36 am:

    This just in…

I have received grainy 8mm film showing there was another unmasked tracker on the grassy knoll.

  14. - JoanP - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 8:45 am:

The weather this weekend is supposed to be gorgeous, and the Printers Row Lit Fest is happening. I will try not to buy too many books.

  15. - Cheryl44 - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 8:52 am:

    What’s a Rabine?

  16. - Phineas Gurley - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 8:58 am:

I kinda wonder how many constituents will see these new “peaking plant” ads and think this:

    https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.alamy.com%2Fstock-photo-man-peeking-from-behind-a-plant-21752588.html&psig=AOvVaw2fga0iwXa-PVbzIyKgKB6C&ust=1631368521516000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAgQjRxqFwoTCKCCncLH9PICFQAAAAAdAAAAABAI

  17. - West Side the Best Side - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:17 am:

“Pritzker’s Rabine Tracker” Sorry, did I miss the headline story on that or the breaking news on TV? Sometimes stuff here is just a little too inside baseball.

  18. - Bruce( no not him) - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:18 am:

I must be out of the loop. Anyone got the Cliff’s notes story of unmasked tracker-gate?
If it’s explained in the Subscriber only post, sorry.

  19. - Levois J - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:20 am:

Who is this Jesse Sullivan fella and why does he want to be governor?

  20. - AD - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:21 am:

Is it just me or could the tracker be mistaken for a son or at least a nephew of JB? I know it’s not, but just seems to have some kind of resemblance. Maybe it’s the hair.

  21. - H-W - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:23 am:

Balloon Rally, Arts Festival, live music, Frisbee Golf Tournament, Skateboarding Competition. A well deserved, and needed weekend in Macomb. Mask up, socially distant, and enjoy this Fall Weekend, everyone.

  22. - Leslie K - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:25 am:

@JoanP–thank you for the reminder about the Printer’s Row Lit Fest. Looks like it will be a great weekend for it.

  23. - TinyDancer(FKASue) - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:27 am:

    +Printers Row Lit Fest +

Yes. I’ve really missed the Lit Fest.
So weird not to have the schedule, etc. in the Trib.
Although, I’ve been too busy to even read the paper lately, usually it’s a separate insert. Haven’t seen it.

  24. - SKI - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:29 am:

Anyone else get their cell phones spammed by Sullivan yesterday?

Sorry, but that’s an automatic NO vote from me when a candidate sends stuff to my phone without me having signed up for their lists.

  25. - ddp76 - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:43 am:

Right Sox host Wrong Sox this weekend.

  26. - Rich Miller - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:47 am:

    ===isn’t wearing a mask either?===

A mask is worn to protect others from you. My own philosophy over the past few months has been if nobody in a room is wearing a mask to protect me, why should I wear mine to protect you?

  27. - Banish Misfortune - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:48 am:

I am waiting for the usual Republican freakouts. Is it time we turn the mantra (which did annoy me) of “love it or leave it” on those who oppose the most recent covid rules?

  28. - MSIX - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:49 am:

Sox vs Sox this weekend. White Sox are relatively safe, but the Red Sox need every win they can get.

  29. - Red Ranger - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:54 am:

The White Sox limped into the playoffs in 2005 and good things happened. Trying to remind myself of that as I watch them right now. I am also banking on TLR knowing how to use/rest players over the next few weeks and be at full strength in October.

  30. - JoanP - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:57 am:

    @ TinyDancer(FKASue)

I haven’t seen it in the Trib, either. That may be because the Trib no longer runs it; it’s back in the hands of the South Loop Planning Board.

There’s a rather difficult to read schedule on their website: https://printersrowlitfest.org/ or you can download a spreadsheet from there.

The one I’m looking forward to is Rick Kogan interviewing Carl Smith about his book on the Chicago fire.

  31. - Pundent - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 9:58 am:

I know that the White Sox are in a position where they can coast, but they’ve essentially been a .500 team since the break. We see teams turn it on all the time during the playoffs, but losing can also be a bit habit forming. I’d like to see them finish strong down the stretch to build some momentum going into the playoffs.

  32. - Arsenal - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 10:00 am:

== This top of hypocrisy is exactly why half the state doesn’t believe anything JR Pritzker says anyway. ==

    Who is “JR Pritzker”?

  33. - Anon221 - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 10:02 am:

“A mask is worn to protect others from you. My own philosophy over the past few months has been if nobody in a room is wearing a mask to protect me, why should I wear mine to protect you?”

Maybe so you don’t also Share Their Spread and also possibly help along a new mutation??? I’m tired of masking up, too, but we still have a long way to go for younger and more vulnerable populations. Until then, my mask protects me just as much as it may be protecting others.

  34. - Oswego Willy - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 10:02 am:

    ===Who is “JR Pritzker”?===

    Forget it.

    He’s rolling.

  35. - Aaa1 - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 10:04 am:

According to a certain Eastern Block candidate for Governor,
JB may have something to do with Sullivan entering the race. His followers seem to agree. They keep making references to rhinoceros?

  36. - Arsenal - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 10:05 am:

    ==Forget it.

    He’s rolling. ==

    LOL.

I mean, the Pritzker family is big! I can’t claim to remember them all.

  37. - ItsMillerTime - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 10:09 am:

Anyone else find it funny that the party who acts like they know for a fact that the presidential election was rigged can’t even run a corn poll without messing up?

  38. - Arsenal - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 10:10 am:

I’m not sure what to make of the fact that the House got the energy bill so apparently easily. Obviously, a lot of work had been done before, and there is a palpable sense of “just get this over with” under the dome. But Welch didn’t just barely inch this over the finish line, either.

Maybe it’s like when a baseball player just need a “change of scenery”.

  39. - Ron Burgundy - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 10:13 am:

-They keep making references to rhinoceros?-

I did see a tweet from a blue check account yesterday that knew him in college and was surprised he was running as a Republican, given his activism at school. We’ll see.

==Joliet West and Central both canceled their Friday football games due to COVID==

So has Petersburg PORTA, ironically against North Mac (Virden), which had the recent quarantine lawsuit.

Also Decatur MacArthur is still on quarantine and is forfeiting again tonight against Springfield Southeast.

And the big talk of the Springfield area is Rochester-SHG tonight.

  42. - AC - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 10:27 am:

“A mask is worn to protect others from you.”

True, but misses another pretty important 1/2 of the equation.

  43. - Tynie - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 10:34 am:

Currently on a break, from making a plan with my husband to get the novavax when it comes out. We’ve looked into the other ones, and their side effects, especially ones that are probably too graphic to cite here, would create too much of a medicinal conflict for me. Especially since, I have a laundry list of chemical and medicinal allergies, that made it OBSCENELY difficult for my Dr. To prescribe what I needed to deal with some personal, yet also likely too graphic to cite here, issues.

  44. - Donnie Elgin - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 10:58 am:

Waiting for JB to declare a flag honor in remembrance of the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Yes, there is a federal law Public Law 107–89 - declaring 9/11 patriot day and it includess a flag honor for fed buildings, but the Governor should act .

  45. - ddp76 - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 11:10 am:

@Red Ranger. My thoughts (hopes?) too. Also remember that bullpen was sketchy until the postseason.

  46. - Red ghetto in a blue state - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 11:14 am:

Orville redenbachers granson showed up to give rabine a final count on the corn poll.

  47. - Friendly Bob Adams - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 11:34 am:

Ranger- Sox are playing poorly, for sure. I wish I had your faith in LaRussa. They have the division sewn up but the real battle is to finish ahead of Houston.

  48. - Amalia - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 12:04 pm:

now I’m chanting Red Ranger because I want that playoff run after limping in to happen!

  49. - MSIX - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 1:28 pm:

Chris Sale tests positive for COVID. No appearance for him this weekend.

  50. - walker - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 1:42 pm:

“”I’m not sure what to make of the fact that the House got the energy bill so apparently easily.”"

Deep into extra innings with powerful opponents. Wind blowing in and storms on the horizon. Welch and the Gov were masterful in managing exhausted relievers. The best wins only look easy.

  51. - Ricky Dick - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 2:15 pm:

Rich, I have been trying to reach you regarding your car’s extended warranty.

  52. - Amalia - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 3:22 pm:

who wants to pen a made for TV movie? White paramedic runs for city council alleging that the incumbent is nasty to everyone. he begins to volunteer on the West side of Chicago, doing good deeds and cleanups. He marries a Black staffer of the Black mayor, a woman who leads the intergovernmental affairs unit and who is a lawyer. they have a baby. No one in the area sees any pix of the man with his wife. Some months later a storm of emails come out about the man harassing people, especially women, including a person not in his ward perhaps through information obtained from the County courts.. The mayor asks the outgoing Inspector General to investigate. what will happen next???

  53. - Jibba - Friday, Sep 10, 21 @ 4:31 pm:

Trib article today about Chicago taking out ad targeting Texas businesses over the abortion ban. About time, I’d say (banned punctuation). I’d be flogging this type of ad everywhere, along with safety from climate change, energy sufficiency, etc. Somebody’s bound to bite.
