* I was apparently an early adopter…

And still no blue check.

What’s on your minds today?

i don’t understand how it is determined who gets a blue check. you are a new source. you produce a daily briefing with hundreds, if not thousands, of subscribers.you are a syndicated columnist. you run a blog that has been in existence for 20 years (is that right — could it be 25?). I see elected officials that have blue check marks. Is the simple act of getting elected valued more than being a provider of factual information to thousands and thousands of people? imma call mrs. twitter and have a word with her.

    Congratulations‼

I was going to compare dates, but then I remembered that I’d only just (re)joined Twitter last month.

Congrats! In related Twitter news from the past week, the Civilian Space Crew tweeted that they could see that Pontiac Wally’s from outer space. #skyhighceilings

Congratulations on being an early member of an instrument that helped elect Trump.

    Yay?

Any thoughts on Kari Steele running for assessor against Fritz Kaegi? Anyone see her announcement video?

  6. - Skeptic - Monday, Sep 20, 21 @ 8:37 am:

At first I was wondering how a Magic Number could go up…

  7. - NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham - Monday, Sep 20, 21 @ 8:42 am:

Rich joined Twitter only 1 month after the end of Overtime in Hell ‘07.

Open House Chicago is not going to be entirely virtual this year. https://openhousechicago.org/

Rich is a member of the Electoral College?‼?

Sox magic number is 4. Their play has been mostly lackluster over past 10 weeks and we never know which aspect of their starting pitching staff is going to show up to pitch. Sox been decimated with injuries to their starting lineup since day one of the season. With playoffs weeks away, not a lot of time to have this team transform into a team capable of winning a World Series

As someone who avidly avoids the cesspit that is Twitter, I’m a bit baffled by the “blue check” of credibility. I now actively wonder how you aren’t a “notable” news organization under their standards. Seems a bit wonky to me when they seem to let any idiot with a hashtag get it.

  12. - Club J - Monday, Sep 20, 21 @ 9:30 am:

Congratulations on 14 years of Tweets. I bet your number of Tweets are enormous.

This weekend Edgar County Watchdogs went out of there way to show the world after the Tom DeVore victories last week that they’ve proven the Governor has no power. They were all over social media even instructing parents how to fight their schools.

They kept promoting the following, Our 5th Amendment of the US Constitution protects us from being deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see more schools in court today.

  13. - Siriously - Monday, Sep 20, 21 @ 9:44 am:

You need a blue check, but I think it’s possible you don’t tweet enough - that could be one of their yardsticks

  14. - Annonin' - Monday, Sep 20, 21 @ 10:13 am:

Still wonder any real value. Most what we see are retweets of other stuff — some seen by us, some skipped. If it gets one more EdgarCo Gomers then seems like another reason to pass

What’s on my mind? Chicago voted second most beautiful city, behind Prague.
I always knew Chicago was beautiful. I didn’t know to what degree because I don’t travel much. I will now have to Czech out Prague.

  16. - Friendly Bob Adams - Monday, Sep 20, 21 @ 10:25 am:

My crystal ball says the White Sox will clinch their division on Wednesday, but will not end up with home field advantage against Houston.

For playoff starters, it’s Rodon, Lynn and Cease and pray that Giolito has one of his good days. Keuchel is simply not good at this point. Kopech would be a better 5th starter.

It’s odd that the Sox aren’t giving their closer any work, winning only in blow out games and losing the close games…

  17. - Pundent - Monday, Sep 20, 21 @ 10:49 am:

The White Sox have been a .500 team since the break and have a losing road record. I understand that they’ve been in a position to coast but I’m concerned about the prolonged mediocrity heading into the playoffs.

  18. - Huh? - Monday, Sep 20, 21 @ 10:53 am:

    “clinch their division”

We are 2 weeks from the playoffs? What happened to the baseball season???

  19. - Rabble - Monday, Sep 20, 21 @ 10:55 am:

Might be a good day to not check my retirement account balance tonight.

  20. - NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham - Monday, Sep 20, 21 @ 10:57 am:

Got my flu shot today, just in case there’s no state employee mass clinics again this year.

Cards have a 3 game lead for the NL’s 2nd wild card. If they hold on and upset whoever gets the NL West’s WC spot (either Dodgers or Giants), then make another ‘06 or ‘11-esque run through the playoffs–and the Sox do the same in the AL–not only would we get our long-awaited Sox-Cardinals WS, but also another storyline of TLR managing against the team where he won 2 WS’s and retired from them after the miracle 2011 Series win.

Cub fans probably wish the season ended on July 4th.

  23. - Strategy Geek - Monday, Sep 20, 21 @ 1:08 pm:

Amazing how much damage Twitter has been able to inflict on America and the world is such a short span of time.

    Q. Do you know why Dairy Queen doesn’t deliver?

    A. They don’t have to.
