Please do not do a photo op with a kilt

  2. - Dysfunction Junction - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:21 pm:

    Try the local delicacy, haggis.

  3. - Grandson of Man - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:22 pm:

    1. Not fall asleep
    2. Declare Illinois as the climate leader in America
    3. Have a few pints

  4. - Westernurbs - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:23 pm:

Lead by example and reduce his own carbon footprint. Can you imagine how much more carbon a billionaire generates than the average Illinoisan?

  5. - Donnie Elgin - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:27 pm:

Promote products and crops produced here. Also, emphasize the amazing infrastructure and high-tech intellectual resources of the state.

  6. - ChicagoBars - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:28 pm:

The Glenkinchie distillery is a nice drive from Glasgow. And their distillery docent’s holding forth on how it’s a “Breakfast Scotch” was delightful….

  7. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:34 pm:

Find at least one Scotch whisky distillery and partake in a tour of its rewards.

Think - ChicagoBars - is already all over a good first choice.

  8. - Scott Cross for President - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:36 pm:

Remind folks that a Rivian EV also can drive on the left side of the road.

  9. - Back to the Future - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:38 pm:

Agree with Donnie Elgin on his ideas.
We have a lot to be proud of here in the State of Illinois.
We should use every platform we can to let people know about the opportunities doing business in and with Illinois farmers, tech companies, financial institutions and manufacturers companies that our state has.
As for not wearing a kilt, don’t you know everyone looks better in a Kilt.
I would stay away from the Haggis.

Hit a Scottish Premier match, Glasgow Rangers F.C. is in town. Celtic is away

  11. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:41 pm:

Speak as Illinois is a global player… a global player… to not only green energy but to Illinois’ desire to be a place to manufacture and research green energy.

Don’t talk to the future, speak in real time governing

  12. - JDuc - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:41 pm:

Think about a transformative diet and exercise regimen.

Try and get 200 steps in day. Show London that Illinois voters can do it.

  15. - Nick Name - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:46 pm:

As anyone who has read M.R. James ghost stories knows, do not go to any ruins. If you do, do not touch anything or fiddle with anything, especially old tombs. Especially do not take or even touch any ancient bronze whistles.

  16. - 47th Ward - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:51 pm:

Buy souvenir tee shirts for his deputy governors.

Send a Wish you were here post card to Bruce Rauner.

    Play 18 at St. Andrews.

See their haggis and raise them a horseshoe.

Ask a local why they always misspell whiskey.

  17. - JS Mill - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:56 pm:

Aggressively and unabashedly promote Illinois. Especially EV and Tech.

Buy Trump’s golf courses in Aberdeen and Turnberry and then donate them back to the communities.

Be yourself, the governor is a good guy doing good things for Illinois. Share that with the Scots.

  18. - Bored Chairman - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 3:56 pm:

Fly to Paris for a decent meal.

  19. - Al - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 4:24 pm:

Buy six one litre bottles of duty-free Tanqueray Gin.

  20. - AnonymousFool - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 4:33 pm:

Visit the Glenlivet distillery would be on my list.

  21. - Blue Dog - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 4:39 pm:

  22. - Pot calling kettle - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 4:40 pm:

Promote using less…less energy, fewer resources, etc.

Also, please take me along. I’m sure I would be useful.

  23. - Saltire - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 5:17 pm:

    Allow us to import haggis

  24. - MyTwoCents - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 5:31 pm:

Since he’s there discussing climate change might as well promote the fact that comparatively speaking Illinois is less climate change/natural disaster prone than other states. We don’t have hurricanes or forest fires, we have plenty of water and away from rivers flooding isn’t a major concern. Might as well talk up the advantages we have.

  25. - Free Market - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 6:17 pm:

Beg OPEC to pump more oil

  26. - JoanP - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 6:27 pm:

    @ Nick Name -

And don’t let a stranger slip you a piece of paper.

  27. - Anon - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 6:45 pm:

I want to see a pic of Pritzker, Welch and Harmon on the London Eye.

  28. - It's Not Me . . . - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 8:06 pm:

@ MyTwoCents = yes we have less climate change/natural disasters than other states. Illinois doesn’t have hurricanes or forest fires as of yet. Many rural communities have witnessed more flooding than you are aware of. Rural infrastructure is in dire need of repair, from city sewer systems, lead pipes, water resources, and list goes on and on. Some areas of Illinois have plenty of water as of now, however a lot of it is contaminated with dissolved solids, PFOAs, PFOs, high nitrate rates, E.coli, manure, sediment, mine subsidence issues and contamination, toxic chemicals dumped into it by industry, coal ash, run-off, etc. We need stronger regulation and increased fines to protect our resources and our planet. If industries pollute they should pay for the clean it up and compensate communities and citizens, not the taxpayer. Many industries get tax payer subsidies, property tax breaks, etc. Yes Illinois has a lot to offer, especially green energy, but it has a lot of work to do to make our resources available, more sustainable, and healthier for the next generations. Environmental and Public Health agencies need the tools and staffing to back Illinois citizens and resources, not the corporations. Like they were originally intended to do. Thank goodness many environmental groups are stepping up to the plate or Illinois tourism will be loss as well. (https://www2.illinois.gov/epa/topics/water-quality/watershed-management/tmdls/Pages/default.aspx) Just my two cents.

  29. - Jibba - Wednesday, Nov 3, 21 @ 9:28 pm:

Way to find that dark cloud in all that silver lining, =It’s Not Me=

Illinois is an unparalleled paradise, said no one ever. But talking up our good points seems like a no-brainer, especially for a governor.

  30. - Blue Dog - Thursday, Nov 4, 21 @ 8:32 am:

Dont forget to remind them we still have lots of coal in southern illinois.

  31. - The Dude - Thursday, Nov 4, 21 @ 9:18 am:

He should discuss food. Particularly our corn and soy as this is a huge reason why IL is a global player.

He should also talk about health and the importance of eating IL food food products.
