* They aren’t the wizards they want us to think they are…
After watching national analysts get things repeatedly wrong during the Illinois congressional redistricting process I'm now much more leery of their instant analysis of developments in other states.
I agree with Scott, but isn’t this under the heading of “duh?”
I mean, I have lots of media friends but the number of political media types who actually know what they are talking about is very, very small. Best recent example are all those who are taking the idea of Kinzinger failing upwards and somehow miraculously winning a GOP primary. Umm, no. Not on this planet.
At church last night, I told the pastor and all present not to overestimate the results of Virginia and New Jersey.
While the results of November 2nd could be a portend of next year in similar states, I reminded all, September 14, California Governor Gavin Newsom recall lost 62-38.
Then I reminded, which state is Illinois more like — California or Virginia?
That gave many pause for discernment.

Man, Scott Kennedy is always right. I don’t understand how he can keep watching that Blackhawks nightmare but he knows his electoral stuff.
Wasserman is fine for election night calls but it’s not like he calls things ridiculously early or anything. For the rest of his analysis, I just pass it by

*One* twitter I constantly check on… for information and analyzing… and this tweet is spot on.
Every word, correct. Now add a year to this… tough to gauge anything towards tomorrow given what *has* happened.

It’s worth noting these “analysts” aren’t working on campaigns or for the party. There’s a reason for that.

Forgive me, but I think that level of discussion of partisan politics isn’t appropriate in a house of worship. Give unto Caesar and whatnot.
Pray tell, what sort of discernment do you think your fellow worshippers will take away from your words of caution?
