I’m standing outside a public library waiting for the doors to open. There’s a minivan parked here with a Rudolph nose and antlers on the front seat side windows.
Really people? We can’t even wait until after Thanksgiving anymore?
Western Illinois University Basketball may be for real this year. The men beat Nebraska at Nebraska last week, and the women beat Butler at Butler Saturday. I always love it when I can get a t-shirt that says my team is a winner.
The small Suburban Kids got their first Covid shots, and there was much rejoicing. Kindergartener was really brave, and told the lady how excited she was for a shot, which the shot lady thought was funny.
We went to a community clinic for elementary-age kids, where we saw basically everyone we know, and the atmosphere was joyous. I wonder if that’s how mass polio vaccination events were, back in the day.
Today’s the day the nation — er, the world — is reminded repeatedly that the most famous AR-toting protector of used-car lots and extinguisher of dumpster fires is a 17-year-old from Illinois.
Re: Rittenhouse. I’m of the view that he is (i) a reckless vigilante punk who epitomizes all that is bad about the current state of mind of a portion of population that glorifies/defends him; (ii) really bad for law abiding 2nd Amendment supporters; and, (3) not guilty of homicide.
Not guilty of murder I think. He clearly committed homicide. His defense is that he killed those two men and injured a third man in self-defense. And it appears he has a good case.
But he never should have been there in the first place, especially with that weapon. He was looking for trouble and he found it. And he’s going to be a celebrated darling of the right wing revolutionaries as soon as he’s freed.
47th Ward - I’m not an expert on WI law but I think they call it 1st Degree Homicide, not murder. Regardless of the specific nomenclature, I think he gets off on self defense.
And I 100% agree with your other comments. He is a vigilante punk who will be idolized by lunatics.

We took advantage of the nice weather this past week, and my son being off, to put up the outside lights and decorations. The inside trees won’t go up until Thanksgiving.
We now have 3 houses on the block decorated with outside lights on every night. If it makes some people happy, and we’ve gotten positive cc moments, why not? LED’s have made the cost to run lights almost nothing.
We can argue underlying motive all day long, but having watched portions of the trial, it does appear he has legal grounds for his self defense claim.
I figured he might get him with the possession charge, but once the prosecutor admitted it was considered a long rifle under Wisconsin law, the judge rightfully dismissed that charge.
Whatever happens with the jury, people are going to rehash this case for many years.
Re: Thanksgiving/Xmas. Maybe it’s just time to put all the holidays into one, like the old Sprint cellular commercial, and just get it over with during the summer. /somewhat snark.

Glorious weekend indeed, neither the Lions nor the Bears lost. Not sure about the snow though.

But it seems you were cheated out of being in the press pool for the WH junket? Meanwhile it seems like the IL take should be based on population.
