After an amazing start to the season, the Bulls have slipped into 5th place and will most likely face the 76ers in the first round of the playoffs. Which means the only round for the Bulls.

So like the Illini, the Bulls will make a brief postseason appearance then be on their way home.

But you never know what could happen in the playoffs. Bulls could pull a St. Peters and pull off at least a couple playoff series upsets and make a miraculous playoff run (probably not an NBA Title, however).

PRB and DCFS are broken wheels that need a new model, not just retreads.

Giannoulias endorsed by Rep. Brad Schneider. Is he the first suburban member of the delegation to endorse Alexi?

Maybe the Jesuits can pray for the Bulls…. ;)

Maybe Sister Jean could make guest appearances at all remaining Bulls home games this season, then travel with the team throughout the playoffs.

Whether it’s injuries piling up or the cumulative effects of a long season, the Bulls seem gassed. It does seem like they have a good core if they can keep it together beyond this season.

Had my first horseshoe sandwich last night. Not bad.
I can cross that off my bucket list.

  10. - low level - Wednesday, Mar 30, 22 @ 8:55 am:

LOL. Sorry, Rich. I’ll drop it.

  11. - Lake Villa Township - Wednesday, Mar 30, 22 @ 9:27 am:

Interesting to see Chuy And Schneider endorsing the same candidate in a primary.

  12. - Steve Rogers - Wednesday, Mar 30, 22 @ 9:40 am:

@proud papa bear: don’t eat any more horseshoes lest the bucket will be appearing sooner rather than later

How many people near the end go ‘I should have eaten fewer horseshoes’?

  14. - Nearly Normal - Wednesday, Mar 30, 22 @ 10:34 am:

Sorry to see Mark Maxwell is leaving WCIA. His Twitter farewell says he will be moving forward in journalism covering politics in another city not very far from Springfield. Chicago? St. Louis? Indianapolis?

  15. - NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham - Wednesday, Mar 30, 22 @ 11:17 am:

    ==Chicago? St. Louis? Indianapolis?==

Could WAND have landed him? And the “not very far from Springfield” line definitely rules out WICS (plus I don’t think he would fit in with the Sinclair “local journalism” mentality, plus they would rather hire someone much younger than Maxwell).

  16. - NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham - Wednesday, Mar 30, 22 @ 11:18 am:

For those not in the Springfield and Central Illinois TV market, WAND is Channel 17.

  17. - cermak_rd - Wednesday, Mar 30, 22 @ 1:22 pm:

I have eaten a horseshoe once in my life and it was in Iowa. Knowing what monstrosities other city that have “pizza” call pizza, I am wondering just how close my horseshoe was to the real thing. It was chicken cutlet (pork was available but I do not eat pork) covered in cheese sauce with lots of jalepenos (which they asked me like 3 times if I wanted apparently Iowans have a milder palate) and french fries. Is that anywhere close to what you guys talk about? I’m originally from Mattoon area and I do not remember ever seeing a horseshoe there.

  18. - RNUG - Wednesday, Mar 30, 22 @ 1:30 pm:

cermak_rd … the traditional horseshoe is 2 pieces of toast, topped with meat choice (classic is ham), then covered with a Welsh rarebit cheese sauce, topped with French fries.

Lots of variations from there …

  19. - RNUG - Wednesday, Mar 30, 22 @ 1:31 pm:

cermak_rd … the Volcano at Ross’s in the Quad Cities is somewhat similar

  20. - Six Degrees of Separation - Wednesday, Mar 30, 22 @ 2:01 pm:

Cermak, it might have been close. Your choice of meat. The original recipe is clamed to be here.

Mark Maxwell going from WCIA to KSDK in St. Louis. Will miss him.

Unfortunately for Springfield viewers, they’re a TEgna station and there’s obviously no Tegna station in our market that could run his Capitol reports. Plus he could be assigned to the Missouri Capitol bureau at the station rather than Illinois.

  23. - cermak_rd - Wednesday, Mar 30, 22 @ 3:48 pm:

    Six Degrees of Separation,

Thanks. Yes, mine was close, definitely aged cheddar in the sauce. It normally comes on a open faced bun (so not the texas toast), but extra carbs so I skipped it. It was very good. The chicken was pounded, breaded and fried. Made a nice contrast to the cheese sauce.

  24. - Just Wondering - Wednesday, Mar 30, 22 @ 4:55 pm:

SOS will be relaxing the mask and testing requirement in their buildings (including in the Complex) starting Friday.

Bad timing for this to be announced in the wake of Rep. Cassidy announcing that she had a breakthrough infection. Especially considering GA and Capitol staff can frequent the Howlett Building more than you think, for parking permits and especially the cafeteria. And some probably walking through the tunnels on break or lunch hour. Would have waited until at least after Session or later in April to relax everything.
