Seems like the quality control on my coffee has gone out the window. I’ve been buying the same brand for years, but the past year or so every bag of coffee is different - some too strong and bitter, some too weak. Today’s coffee is perfect.
I’m wondering how successful the Mary Miller fundraiser was yesterday at Mar-A-Lago and whether Darren was able to make a pitch to get the endorsement from the Donald! I’m sure that eventually we will find out.
I am entertaining myself imagining the questions that Illinoisians would ask Presidential candidates if we were moved up to an earlier primary date as the impact of all politics being local is felt.
What is your plan to address Chicago political corruption?
How will you address States like Illinois that are failing to meet their federal mandates to protect children through DCFS?
And so forth. Some people might be excited by the upsides without understanding the attention that comes along with it. If I were more responsible for DCFS than a regular Jane Citizen I don’t think I would want my failings and the pediatric deaths that can be attributed to them showcased for the most prominent leaders in my political party, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
If we and the leaders we elect haven’t been embarrassed enough to fix it with the ferice urgency of now I don’t know if being national embarrassed by the child victims of our sorry state will be the catalyst to fix those kinds of issues.
We’re not muddling through in this state. Muddling suggest some kind of progress. We need intentional effort and we don’t seem to be getting much in the way of results if that effort is happening.
I like our Governor, but he has a big job to do made bigger by the failures and short comings of his predecessors. I don’t like living in a state where children are buried because DCFS is understaffed, over worked, and constantly excused by the fact that it’s been an embarrassment for a long time.
White Sox play at 1pm. Might be a good spot for coffee today….?

Warming trend continues here in central Illinois. Plants are roaring to life, hope we are done with the frost warnings and high temps not getting to 60.

The CSB videos are worth a watch and are very well-produced reproductions of accidents and their causes and lessons learned.
