I had a Jewel delivery scheduled for this morning. I felt bad for the guy, but he had on the coolest White Sox raincoat I’ve ever seen, and seemed happy that I gave him about half a roll of paper towels as part of his tip.
Should have planted my tomatoes and peppers yesterday before the rain, but the spawning Crappie were calling me from Lake Shelbyville. So they will have to wait for another perfect time to plant ( if it reaches the 90’s early next week ,the soil should dry enough hopefully ?)
First Grandchild and Grandson Club J made his presence known this morning at 3:00am. Mom, Baby, Dad and Grandparents are all doing great. Everyone have a great day.
well, at least I have not picked up any plants for the outdoors yet because planting now would be in a sea of water. have not seen the street this flooded in quite some time.
Nicor just announced the price of natural gas has changed. April price 68 cents per therm. As of May 1, the price jumped to $1.11 per therm. Nicor sells gas at the price they pay for it, no markup. They get paid a delivery fee based on amount used. Customers will cut back as best they can, cutting delivery fee revenue for Nicor. Then Nicor will say “our pipes and gas meters cost the same to maintain even with less gas going through them”, therefore they will petition the IL commerce commission to raise their delivery fee. This will also cause electricity rates to increase in summer due to peaker plants that run on natural gas costing more to operate. For most people this is going to be hard to pay.

1.5 inches of rain here in Sangamon County. But, on the bright side, we did have our daily 20 min. allotment of sunshine so we have that going for us.

I guess our new project as a state should be creating a Bill of Rights before some of these other things catch on.

Mask usage was below 50% but about half of the mask wearers are wearing N95-looking masks on my Metra morning ride.
Mask usage is generally lower on the ride home.

Illinois-specific question. What effect does the leaked Supreme Court “draft” have on the GOP statewide primaries, particularly for Governor?
