LL launching her re-election campaign next month. I have to imagine the cloud of apathy that surrounded the last mayoral election will be lifted this time around. Is there even anyone serious who wants this job?

Last week had the heat on night, this week the AC is running and mosquitoes have arrived in our yard.
Boeing is moving out after tens of millions in tax incentives. I don’t hear the right complaining about that socialism, but dog forbid we give poor kids lunch at school.
Link from @lowlevel leads me to wondering: What’s the most realistic scenario that would cause a Democrat to lose the Illinois governor’s race this year (since it seems very, very unlikely)?
Interesting case at the Illinois Supreme Court yesterday with two former legislators (Michael Noland and James Clayborne) trying to get back pay after both voted to freeze legislator pay.
=== What’s the most realistic scenario that would cause a Democrat to lose the Illinois governor’s race this year===
Roe not being threatened or overturned.
Could make it close, but Illinois, with Roe either threatened or likely overturned, in 2022, it’s an uphill climb with one arm tied behind their back… and if they are a Trumpian/Pro-Life/Big Lie nominee… that sinks the whole ticket “plus”
There was a time, 26 years of GOP governors, 30 of 42 years of GOP governors… that’s not “today”
Yes, when he needs to be. And when you consider that 1/3 of ILGOP voters are still undecided and over 50% of them would be swayed by a Trump endorsement, he needs to be. It’s the reality of where the party is at.
OW, the sooner you accept that any GOP candidate will go MAGA if they believe it ensures victory the sooner you can get over this fantasy that your party can return to the days of Reagan and Edgar.

If Irvin does, then your premise rings true.
I don’t think I’m naive. I’d like to think I’ve been harshly and unabashedly realistic to what’s been going on, while looking at what other options are being dismissed.
Depending on any day, I’m a RINO, apologist, “Democrat”, all those, but mostly homeless and orphaned.
There are states with less than Trumpian folks (Maryland comes to mind?), Illinois as a state would be better served with two functioning parties.

Sat in a bar on 33rd street for a couple of hours after we found out the Sox game was cancelled. Perfect weather for sitting under an umbrella having a few beverages. There are worse ways to spend a lovely day.
OW - like you I feel like a political orphan. The Democratic Socialist members of Chicago City Council drive me nuts and the suburban/downstate Trumpians are in another world from me. Where do we go my friend?
I remember the “good old days” when Republicans and Democrats could argue policy during the day, and then go out to dinner and/or drinks at night. Unfortunately, those days are gone.
When does the grocery tax suspension go into effect? I thought it was effective immediately but thus far all my food purchases have been taxed 1.25%. Did I misunderstand the legislation?

I hope everyone was able to get out and enjoy the spring weather this year - lasting from 10am to 11am on Tuesday.

I have gotten the tests from ComEd about not running large appliances during peak hours the last few days.

Wishing it would cool down so I can enjoy the nice weather. I took a vacation this week so I could get things done and this is what I get. Hot weather

Noisy. New roof shingles going on today. Good day for it, though.
