* Happy Monday. What’s on your mind?

Have any county clerks addressed the issue I see Republicans across the country raise about the legitimacy of the upcoming election, or are they just ignoring it?

  2. - OneMan - Monday, Jun 6, 22 @ 8:44 am:

So mask usage on my Metra ride is down to about 20% now.

  3. - Concerned Observer - Monday, Jun 6, 22 @ 8:57 am:

The IL-43 Senate race (D) has gotten kind of nasty.

  4. - Amalia - Monday, Jun 6, 22 @ 9:00 am:

weird reading Laura Washington in the Tribune.

  5. - vern - Monday, Jun 6, 22 @ 9:02 am:

Curious, they’re ignoring it. It’s standard practice for county governments. The animal control departments refuse to cull the snipe population, the GIS departments pretend the Earth is round, and the health department refuses to get the fluoride out my drinking water. Why won’t anyone address these issues? (/s)

=== has gotten kind of nasty===

Been that way for a bit now.

  7. - Concerned Observer - Monday, Jun 6, 22 @ 9:12 am:

Agreed. Also there’s been a surprising amount of canvassing for the seat, at least in my neighborhood. Both candidates are getting their people out. One appears to have more direct mail money than the other…or maybe just a sharper attitude toward direct mail messaging.

  8. - Huh? - Monday, Jun 6, 22 @ 9:20 am:

“Have any county clerks addressed the issue … about the legitimacy of the upcoming election, or are they just ignoring it?”

How can a republican’t county clerk address the legitimacy of an election they are running?

What is more interesting is the republican’ts criticize an election that they lose. If they win, the election was legit.

  9. - Anyone Remember - Monday, Jun 6, 22 @ 9:23 am:

Last week St. Louis saw 2 current / 1 former alderman indicted for bribes related to tax breaks / development (they have ward development privilege like Chicago). Front and center on the news? St. Louis’ gain, Springfield’s loss, Mark Maxwell.

On a positive note, congratulations to North Clay IHSA Class 1A State Championship baseball team.

=If they win, the election was legit.=

Especially when you consider the number of unopposed elections in Illinois. Rural Illinois often only has one candidate running.

    OneMan,
When the CDC changed Chicago’s level to red, we were required to put them back on at work. 100% compliance from what I can see. I mean, it helps that you can be fired for not complying.

  13. - Nearly Normal - Monday, Jun 6, 22 @ 9:47 am:

Curious Citizen–I think many of the county clerks have tried to explain and ensure people when and where they can. Problem is so many are not listening to them.

The McLean County Republicans along with the Illinois Conservative Union sponsored one of those Election Protection Seminars back in March. The Republican County Clerks from McLean and Tazewell attended. They took umbrage to the map displayed that showed their counties as having “possible fraud” during the 2020 General Election.

Both clerks explained in detail why there was no fraud but the attendees argued with them spewing their conspiracies and other half-baked theories probably taken from the internet.

No amount of facts, evidence, or reasoning would convince any of the attendees shouting out their pathetic nonsense that they were wrong.

Here is the link to an opinion piece from one attendee who is a frequent contributor to the local paper.

  14. - Contempt of Court - Monday, Jun 6, 22 @ 10:00 am:

Marc Smith should be a clear front runner for the Edgar Simon Award. Eleven contempt of court citations in less than a year has to put him in the record books…

Great job by the metro east this weekend on a first class race.

The Buffalo Grove Pride Parade was joyous and uplifting. Bigger and better every time.

  18. - Amalia - Monday, Jun 6, 22 @ 10:46 am:

not gonna lie, teared up a bit when the Sox won one, and then two over the weekend.

  19. - G'Kar - Monday, Jun 6, 22 @ 11:56 am:

Nice article in the WaPo over the weekend highlighting one of Profts “newspapers” and fake reporting.

Interesting developments in Ed Burke trial. Judge denies Burke’s pre-trial motions but best is some of the wiretaps disclosed…
