Jennifer Hudson, from Englewood, a Chicago neighborhood much in the news for not great reasons, is now an EGOT with her Tony win as a producer for the top musical. that is pretty cool. Hudson does a good job giving back to the community even as she lives and works in the entertainment world.
The new documentary “The Janes” on HBO Max has some interesting late 1960s and early 1970s Chicago/Illinois history about a group that tried to help women get safe abortions while it was still illegal pre-Roe v. Wade. Before seeing this doc I had never heard of the Cook County Hospital having something called a “septic abortion ward” pre-Roe. So tragic.

These elections have been fascinating. Enjoy the competitiveness now cause in November there are easy wins for the Dems statewide.
Likely had to do with an severe infection called “septic shock”. This a catastrophic infection that shuts down the body. Doctors have a horrible time treating these patients.
After two years, COVID finally caught me. But being vaxxed and boosted (1x) seems to have really helped. Mending quickly.
Pleased to see Chicago daughter Jennifer Hudson EGOT. Beautiful to see her thrive and continue to give back, even in the face of the tragedy she suffered along the way.
is Patrick Blanchard still the Cook County Inspector General? Because one of Kim Foxx’s body guards showed up to the suburban police department which came to her home on the “personal family matter” for which police copy is all over the internet. The body guard showing up sounds strange. And her head of investigations abruptly quit. What the heck is going on?
shouldn’t the staff involvement in her personal matter be looked at?
I voted today.
Years ago, a friend asked if I’d give up my right to vote for a million dollars.
I said, “no. My grandfathers fought for my right to vote. One was a Marine Raider and the other took a German bullet to his liver. I’d be disgusted with myself.”
“A billion dollars?”
“No.”
“No?”
“Let me think about it a little more.”
Has anyone gotten the Martwick/LaPointe “Two heads are better than one” mailer yet? It hit my mailbox today. I actually laughed out loud for a sustained period of time. Tri-fold, with 12 pics of “twosomes” on the outside–Hall & Oats, Thelma & Louise, Beavis & [probably banned word]head, Wayne & Garth…
I can’t describe the whole thing, but it is funny, direct, professional and positive. Really well executed in my opinion (and captures the essence of Martwick, IMO; I don’t know LaPointe so I can’t say for sure).
Thank you Senator and Rep for a moment of joy in a mailbox otherwise overflowing with tedious and tiresome cookie-cutter accusations about opponents.

Illinois Republicans support Trump and think the election was stolen. Overwhelmingly. Seems like pretty fertile ground for the Bailey campaign.

It was a great day to vote.
In nearly 30 years, I’ve missed only one election at any level.
