I filled out my ballot yesterday, and will mail it today. Sadly, I actually voted FOR just two candidates, and acquiesced to grudgingly vote for two more. The rest of the races, such as they are, I didn’t vote. They are repugnant.
After I posted my response I then realized you’re talking about a week until Primary Day. Duh. Still getting my brain to function this morning after a holiday weekend and only 4 or less hours of sleep last night.
Can all the folks who went out of their way to explain how CAT leaving us a testament to “how bad” it is to do business in Illinois now we have Kellogg’s reorganizing and moving TO Illinois *after* reorganizing for a better corporate strategy.
I look forward to those same folks, easily seen if one pulls up that CAT post…
Thanks.

“not retiring from CapFax.”
Rich, you might have subliminally put that idea in the minds of readers a few days back when your story about your niece included what could be considered a cryptic message about who will be running the blog in the near or distant future.
I’ll admit to thinking the same thing when I first read this open thread headline.
On another note, the ILSC released their decision on Holm V. Kodat last week. A unanimous decision at that.
I’m not sure I agree with you that nominating Bailey will be the end of the Illinois GOP, but it will certainly signal the permanent shift away from being anything other than an alt-right contrarian party that simply seeks the best platform to draw attention to their bigotry.
A week out and I’ve seen more Mary Miller signs in the 17th than Joy Esther King. The yard sign “patriots” pick looks like Charlie Helmick. Gotta love that “hold my beer” energy of GOP primaries.
Pence was in Peoria last night to speak to about 700 at the Peoria and Tazewell County Lincoln Day Dinner. Here’s a link to WGLT’s report– https://tinyurl.com/bdhw4dj3
I’m with Joan P. Enough with all these mailers, especially in the representative and judicial races. I thought the judiciary was supposed to be based on qualifications, experience, and integrity- not glam shots!
The weird thing is that I get so many from Tarver, who is basically a shoo-in, and I’ve had NONE from any of the 17 Democratic candidates for the 1st Congressional District seat.

Hopefully you are just referring to FY22 and are not retiring from CapFax.

Not happening any time soon.

feels weird….the election part. and also the US Supreme Court part, 18 cases left to go there in June with ramifications for all the states.

I’m hoping that, after Tuesday, Curtis Tarver will stop killing trees. I like the guy, but, jeez, I’ve been getting a mailer almost every day.

The turnout is so low so far, I don’t know what to think.
Lots of folks say they have a mail-in ballot still in hand. We might have a lot of elections waiting for results for a few days.

The Republican Party considers it fraud if you don’t know who won the election on election night.

JoanP, state Rep. Tarver isn’t taking any chances and those US Rep. candidates haven’t raised enough money to do district-wide mailers.
