Very touching Capt. FAX wants us to feel sorry for Durkie and Milheiser…Durkie should set the campaignvHQ in ‘Riffie’s big hallway atvthexart institute. The other guy should give us 6his list coruption clean ups as county crime fighter and USA
Griffin’s a jerk and no one in the state was under any obligation to cater to his “feelings”, but it kinda feels like ILGOP is 5 days away from torpedoing not only this election cycle, but its entire next decade.
===Doubtful abortion will be a campaign issue, amirite? ===
It’s a numbers game. They don’t have the votes. They don’t have the voters and some of them don’t have the discipline to stay quiet about it while others lack the tact to avoid insisting on making it a campaign issue in a competitive district.
The governments in our midwestern neighbors have created new policy problems which will likely make it harder for them to maintain the numbers going forward.
People will die because of this decision. When people were dying before Roe v Wade was decided abortion was not a partisan issue because reproductive rights are not partisan in how they impact lives and livelihood.
There will again be martyrs to this cause of basic human rights. In time we will have our own versions of women like Savita Halappanavar whose deaths were caused by the state.
Annonin, we all make typos, especially on our phone. But when your post is gibberish at its base with silly snark references, the typos make the unreadable worse. Just trying to help buddy.
Folks are certainly underestimating the impact of Ken Griffin and employees leaving Illinois. High earners, lots of $ paid in income taxes, sales taxes, etc. Mucho dinero donated throughout Chicago land.
I am sorry to see Griffin and his executive team leave Chicago. He’s a creative talent, who built a company in what might have been the best business environment in the world for his specific offerings. That’s why he was smart to come here in the first place.
Miami is joke as a financial trading and investment center. Without its historical role in helping avoid and evade currency controls and taxation for the wealthy of Latin America, it would not even be in the second tier. I am sure Griff knows that. This is a location shift for senior executives, not for an operating company.
We might disagree on many political issues, but it takes all kinds to make and sustain a world-class city, and we have to be welcoming to a range of players.

“Anyone want to pitch in on a nice edible arrangement or fruit basket for Ken Griffin as a nice goodbye gift?”
Careful on what kind of “edibles” you give him. Pot is still illegal in Flori-duh.
The CDC has again labeled Cook County, to Red. This means after a week at work without mandatory masks, we are back to mandatory masks. Truthfully I find this on/off system more annoying (especially when the time periods are so close together) than a blanket wear a mask until we decide you don’t have to policy. They just mandated masks today in the middle of the day. Fortunately I keep a N95 in my desk for such occasion, but still.

Miami is 6 to 8 feet above sea level across almost all of the city. A recent study suggested that the gulf coast would see 14 to 18 inch increases in sea level by 2050, which might still be optimistic. Maimi-Dade County’s government is suggesting 10 to 17 inches by 2040.
No one should be building anything there that they expect to find useful in 40 or 50 years. Banks shouldn’t be approving 30 year mortgages in that area.
No reasonably minded person, entity, or organization would think developing a financial district there is a good idea. Pretend like your headquarters is there? Sure. Pretend like some executives live there? Sure. Build a facility to house hundreds of employees? Only if it’s sitting on the hull of a decommissioned battleship or carrier.
For a fund called Citadel it might be appropriate for them to build their headquarters on the hull of a capital ship. Ken Griffin could get a fun little hat. Call his executive board “The Admiralty.”

Nicely stated. Naval architecture references are too few and far between (banned punctuation).
If he gets seasick, there is a military school in South Carolina that wouldn’t say no to another benefactor.

Roe v. Wade was just overturned, as expected. Now we watch the politics of it in Illinois, in this cycle and beyond.
Griffin is going to an anti-abortion state. How ironic, after how Rauner expanded abortion here.

Looking forward to Illinois Republicans running snd cheering Roe being overturned

“Nope.”
