Was a nightmare dealing with the confluence of post White Sox traffic + Chinatown Fair and Fiesta del Sol closures yesterday - but worth it to snag 2 platters from Milagros after that hour long trip which normally takes 15-20.
Welcome back. Really craving some good football (but not for summer to end). With the Bears it seems that hope is perennially crushed. Can they at least beat the Packers this year, huh? [Archie Bunker voice]

While you were on vacation I fell and broke my wrist, so I’ve got that going for me.
==Really worried about the increasing Covid spread. It’s time for mitigation measures to stop the spread. Please everyone mask up.==
Agreed. Even if it means back to masking requirements. I am not giving up masks anytime soon, maybe keeping them on hand the rest of my life in public. Also masking would help ward off the new monkeypox.
I took a vacation to Hawaii during the Cap Fax hiatus. The big story there was that a man at a 7-11 in Honolulu chopped off another man’s hand with a sword. At first I wondered what a crazy state I was in. Then I realized that on the mainland, fights often end in gun deaths.
I was a big supporter of masks and I think the governor did a good job for Illinois. But no, I am against mandating masks again. If you choose to wear, as I do in certain situations, then bless your heart and bless our freedoms to choose.
Your vacation was fun as usual. Hope the pontoon got a good workout. Looked like the lake had some water when we drove by. DPI chair struggle and MLB trade deadline about as exciting as the scene around interest rate hikes.
Meanwhile we can folo the debate on the NASCAR street race in Chicago next year while no one minds the fences around Lolla fest. Hmmm.
We can folo GOPie unity, Durbin getting smoked and getting our MEGA passes for the fair. Real fun
Now can we also follow that up with changing 7th Street to two ways (from downtown to South Grand), and two-waying Monroe from Lewis to perhaps 2nd Street? No need IMO for Monroe to be one way eastbound west of College to begin with.
Just checked out the music act that will play after the Sox on Aug. 12. boy am I out of it, apparently Kaskade is a big thing, like a major thing, is from the area, and he’s a Sox fan. I’m still a rocker so EDM, I have no idea. but now I know some.
Welcome back, Rich (and Oscar, Honorary Board Editor Emeritus).
Local news: Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard was recalled in the primary, but has a court case in process challenging the recall. And the Bears are going to where we though they were, while LL’s “proposals” are going nowhere. Seen a cardinal around last couple of weeks; no bluejays however.
No general election fever here yet in the Southeast Burbs of Chicago. That’s the news from the Channel 3 ActionNewsTeamCenter; stay classy, everybody.

For a minute I thought I had a flashback to circa late 70s era WCIA Channel 3. Back when the likes of August Meyer, Dave Shaul and Mr. Roberts were still going strong, and it was possible that WCIA’s analog signal might reach part of the southeast burbs, especially if the weather cooperated. And when the tropo came in strong and wiped out WBBM-2 even as close as Kankakee and you had to rotate your antennas toward Champaign to pick up a CBS alternative.
Obviously this is far fetched but the Trib’s Connor Wielgos is calling for the Jacksonville Jaguars to move to Chicago and Solider Field if the Bears leave for Arlington Heights:
To Just Sayin’s 2:40pm about Channel 3…I still have issues with Channel 2, and I live just over the southern border of Chicago, and minutes from Indiana. Years ago I could somewhat pickup Milwaukee stations sometimes on a old-style analog TV and a mechanical fine tuner. And yes, I remember TV stations signing off; now those are on Youtube.

I would also think that Lollapalooza traffic also was in that mix too. Looks like it will spend another decade in Chicago.

Bye bye one way streets on parts of 4th and Adams streets in downtown Springfield? Could happen if the council votes yes Wednesday night:

What? Monkeypox is spread by touch mostly.
Look, if you want to wear a mask the rest of your life be my guest. Leave everyone else alone.

Also took a trip to Springfield on Friday/Saturday and caught part of the Downhome Fest. Great acts.
