* I’m probably not going to make it back to the fairgrounds this year, so I will miss it…

Keep it Illinois-centric, please. And be nice to each other. It’s been a week.

Felt pretty good about White Sox waking up Wednesday morning, 2 mornings later not so much.

On positive side new Bears regime has them playing solid disciplined football which is nice change.

    Whew. So painful.

Odds are your local HS is having a scrimmage and even a community event tonight, go check it out.

I see that logo, and I see that slushy, and my minds reads it as Illinois Swine.

Just started seeing a Sharon Chung TV ad. Most of the ad is fine with just basic policy ideas being touted.

Then at the end they give her some awkward scripted line to incorporate her kids into the ad by having her hand off a grocery bag to a kid and say she will work as hard as her kids before changing her mind to say she’ll work harder than them.

I am not even sure what it is supposed to mean and I hope they change it because I want her to win.

Which is appropriate for the pork patio, no?

The Dolmen of Guadalperal or “Spanish Stonehedge” has re-emerged. Smaller than the actual Stonehedge but impressive none the less. And yet another sign that something profound is happening with our climate. Or possibly these aren’t coincidences at all and it’s nothing more than god speaking to us through his chosen voice? It can’t be that simple can it, friends?

I see that the Cook County GOP lost 8 of its candidates who were recruited by Morrison to run against Democrats in November. Just when you think the Cook County GOP can’t be anymore inept they strike again.

The statue above the Chicago Board of Trade building that overlooks the City is Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture. So the biggest economic institution in Chicago is crowned with farming. Heh.

  10. - 47th Ward - Friday, Aug 19, 22 @ 10:08 am:

The decorative stone work on the Harold Washington Library prominently features ears of corn, one of the major fruits of the Illinois prairie.

Went to the Cardinal game yesterday for the first time in years. 13-0, Wainwright spot on, Yadi threw a runner out and Pujols wasn’t too shabby either. (banned punctuation)

    – There’s a Cook County Republican Party?? :)

My latest dental reimbursement checks from the state arrived less than a month after the services were rendered. I’m extremely pleased the payment cycle is so short, but I’m missing those huge interest checks that used to add up to more than my savings account paid.
