Nothing much. Just sqeegibg the last of the little red ripple from the front of my house. :)

  2. - AnonymousFool - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 8:42 am:

    It got cold last night.

  3. - Give Me A Break - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 8:45 am:

Winter has arrived in the 217.

  4. - Candy Dogood - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 9:01 am:

    More three day weekends, please.

How about Illinois leads the nation in establishing the 4 day work week? A day for leisure, a day for rest, and a day for all the rest!

  5. - JoanP - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 9:02 am:

It appears that if Bailey had called Chicago a “rat hole” rather than a “hell hole”, he’d have been right: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/10/realestate/us-cities-rats.html

  6. - Homebody - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 9:14 am:

Basically everyone who isn’t a government employee who I work with decided to email me on Friday while I was out of the office for veteran’s day. I know it is pretty minor to complain about a holiday, but there are few things more dispiriting than firing up Outlook on Monday morning and seeing 2-3x as many emails as you usually have.

  7. - Loyal Virus - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 9:24 am:

Shaking my fist at the Sun-Times- they did a spread this past week about how reliable Cairo Santos is…

  8. - Friendly Bob Adams - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 9:35 am:

Loyal- Santos did not throw a pick six.

  9. - Flying Elvis'-Utah Chapter - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 9:45 am:

In a year when you don’t have Rodgers appearing unstoppable, you lose to Detroit…

    …at home.

  10. - CD - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 9:50 am:

I’m wondering if the Senate will continue with the same COVID protocols they had back in March. Has anyone heard anything?

  11. - Rich Miller - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 9:54 am:

    ===Has anyone heard anything? ===

I asked over the weekend, but haven’t yet been given a definitive answer.

  12. - Etown - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 10:13 am:

looking forward to a time where I can watch a Bears game with some level of confidence they will win rather than the feeling Ive had for last 10 years simply wondering how they will lose.

  13. - Amalia - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 10:50 am:

It is sunny and there’s only 37 days to the days getting longer. hope.

  14. - House turnover - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 11:01 am:

If Durkin steps down from his seat, by my count there will be 6 House Republicans who were in office before the 2016 election. 7 if you include Rosenthal retaking his old seat

  15. - thoughts matter - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 11:38 am:

Rep. Butler cited the fact that he knew 4 terms was enough. He’s been on his 4th term for a couple years now. Why run unopposed and resign a day or so after the election? He deprived his own constituents of voting for their 2023 representative in a timely fashion.

Actually I can guess why he did it that way. He ( and possibly advisers) thought that the seat might not be unopposed if a different Republican were to run. That might mean a Democrat might win. That’s the voter’s right to decide, not the party. I dislike this playing games attitude.

  16. - Independent - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 12:09 pm:

The Bears’ season is primarily about the development of Fields instead of their record. It’s safe to say he’s there as a rusher. Now they need to get him to be a consistent 250+ yd passer. Yesterday’s loss stinks but look at it as them getting a higher pick for a top rusher or OT next Spring.

Got my mastodon server up and running. Run by two nerds in Berwyn. My husband has been driving this project (he deals with the aws side while I deal with the linux/mastodon side.) I just about got carpal tunnel setting up the block list. Gee there are a lot of horrible people in the fediverse. Thus they get defederated and they get defederated via the blocklist which appears to be a never ending game of whack-a-mole as new ones pop up. I am going to write a script to make this easier.

    Welcome to my world.

  19. - thisjustinagain - Monday, Nov 14, 22 @ 1:27 pm:

Bears…maybe next year. But Fields is DA MAN.

“Mastodon server”? “Linux”? MX-Linux desktop user here; I see you’re a person of Linux culture as well. (I looked up Mastadon, but I thought you meant a 386SX server from the 1980’s for a second.)
“Whack-A-Spammer”, the new game the whole world can play :(
