Senate to return Sunday
Friday, Jan 6, 2023 - Posted by Rich Miller * Senate Democrats…
As we’ve discussed, Senate President Harmon’s mom recently passed away and her wake is later today, so they’re going home early today and tomorrow’s session was canceled. The House has canceled tomorrow’s session and will be back on Tuesday. But the House has already passed an abortion bill and a gun bill. The new General Assembly convenes Wednesday at noon. …Adding… The Senate reconvenes Sunday at 5 pm. I doubt we’ll see much action.

It’s always hilarious to me how nobody seems to care about the Senate.

For me,
The SGOP is the least relevant and most silent. Mushrooms to even their own individuality.
The SDems, the individuality/characters that the House, as a whole has, few members are exciting to watch or wonder. It’s that and it’s too “plotted a story”, nothing interesting or new or unique happening.
The Illinois Senate makes Vanilla Bean ice cream more exciting “because it has pieces of bean in it”
Plus, with them “out of pocket”, in new digs for the moment, it’s almost the final “out of sight, out of mind”, existence?

In Tip O’Neill’s autobiography, he stated how the very last thing he wanted was for his name to be known is his member’s districts. He never wanted to become an issue.
IL Senate leadership on both sides certainly have accomplished that.

No wonder Quinn of all people spared the Senate in the Cutback Amendment 43 years ago.
