I was looking over the re-drawn county board districts in my county over the weekend, and I noticed something.
The new maps have a ‘hole’ cut out of one of the districts(district 5) with that area defined as ‘unassigned’. Looking at a street map, shows that carve out to be Stateville Prison. While incarcerated felons can not vote, those incarcerated on misdemeanors can vote. However, the county now prevents them from doing so in county-level elections in both primary and general elections. I looked at the new maps in LaSalle County, where the Sheridan facility is located and there is not a similar carve out in county board districts.
Old county maps drawn before the last census do not have this carve-out. While these old maps are referenced and show up in a google image search, clicking on the image directs the the county website, where the old file names for the maps automatically redirect to the new maps. There is no way to look at the historical maps on the county website itself any longer. This seems to be a result of the personally drawn maps of the supposed democratic county executive.
In Will county, disenfranchising undesirable voters is something that has been undertaken by the democratic officials. Our almost complete lack of local news/reporting means this has gone mostly unnoticed.
Liam Hendriks and his fight against non Hodgkins Lymphoma. So tragic and difficult and such a great guy….and his wife….in all their charity work started right when they came to Chicago. Cancer, just not fair.
I just watched several Representatives speak kindly and emotionally about the loss of Senator Scott Bennett on a resolution honoring him.
Rep. Carol Ammons chose not to speak. I wish I could say it was unbelievable, but alas, it was par for the course.

IDPH has launched a new online tracker that monitors COVID levels in wastewater samples in 75 locations throughout the state.
Unfortunately for this area, CWLP and South Sangamon Water Commission (Chatham’s controversial water supplier for the past decade) is not presently included in this tracker. Hopefully they can soon.

I missed this yesterday, my sincere congratulations to the Frerichs family, and their new addition too.
Great news.

For my job, I need to do a lot of LLC and corporate searches at the ILSOS website.
Needless to say, it was actually a bit disconcerting to see someone other than Jesse White on the site for a change.
