No federal tax was deducted from mine either. Got an email yesterday saying they will fix it next month.

I got this message yesterday: “You are receiving this email to inform you that federal taxes were under withheld on your January 2023 SERS benefit check. Federal withholding will be correct on your February 2023 benefit check. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.”
It was news to find out that “under witheld” meants zero witholding.
Without any evidence whatsoever, I’m blaming this on DOIT.

We have so many referees seeking refuge from the danger of their homeland. It’s so sad to see the treated so poorly. Is there a program connects them with families willing to house them? This would also be a wonderful opportunity for our elected officials to show their true support for those seeking asylum. JB, Durbin, Lightfoot, Chuy?
Yes, “under withheld” means didn’t withhold. That’s a pretty big oops to start the year.

It’s not nice to mess with people’s retirement checks. Wonder why this happened and why it wasn’t fixed before today.
- Anotherretiree - Thursday, Jan 19, 23 @ 10:04 am:
I checked my withholding. They took out the extra amount I had previously asked them to add to my exemptions amount. But not the exemption determined amount. So it was “under withheld” for some of us. They could’ve stated this better LOL.

Wondering how many retirees have already spent what was to be rendered unto Caesar.

Here is a link to the IDHS: Refugee Program website with links to agencies that provide services for refugees. The nearest refugee resettlement agency in the St. Louis area is the International Institute of St. Louis. https://www.dhs.state.il.us/page.aspx?item=137611
Why am I thinking that J.B. hadn’t released his tax returns? Maybe I’m thinking of another billionaire Illinois Governor. We’ve had so many of them. I rescind my comment.

Another dreary damp gray day in the 60827. Even worse we have municipal primaries coming; already the dirt on a Riverdale trustee candidate’s arrest record hit my mailbox.
- Back to the Future - Thursday, Jan 19, 23 @ 1:48 pm:
As i recall Pritzker released a few pages of his tax returns, but ( like Trump) refused to release a complete set of his tax returns.
I’d like to thank everyone who replied to my question regarding no tax deduction on pension check today. It was very helpful to me as I did not receive an email like others did. I spoke with 2 other retirees and one did and one did not. I guess their records aren’t very accurate for sending out the emails either. I hope we are not in for more errors regarding this very important issue for a retiree…

I itemize and check for an Illinois 1099-G every year, because my previous year’s state tax refund becomes taxable. I presume this will end up on my 2022 1099-G.

Today is SERS pension payday. No federal tax was deducted. Did this happen to anyone else?

Since the Democrats in DC have proven they can publicize anyone’s tax returns, how long will it be before the Republicans publicize J.B.‘s?

I didn’t realize that Illinois Republicans had subpoena powers.
Also, please remove your DC talking points from this website.

@Just Me 2: JB has released his tax returns, so they are already public. Or are Republicans too dense to do a simple google search?

Quick question. Does anyone know offhand if the checks sent by Comptroller Mendoza are taxable? Individuals got $50, joint filers got $100.
