Did anyone manage to see the 5 planet alignment last night? From my vantage I was unable to see Jupiter and Mercury. Too low in the sky. I did find the other three (Mars, Venus, Uranus). Very nice view of the Pleaides also.
I’m currently aghast that the Friday afternoon news dump worked for the story about DCFS placing a child with a foster parent with a criminal record who sex trafficked her. I would have hoped something like that might have survived till Monday.
Blame that on the judge. He’s the one who issued the ruling, then included in the ruling that the CBS 2 reporter, who just happened to be there, should be given a copy of it.
Haven’t been involved with DCFS for a number of years, but I have familiarity with its operations, that court/judge, and these types of cases in general.
Short version is, situations like this suck. Some kids are at the point that you feel like you have to lock them up for their own good. The facts about the constant running (including from Indian Oaks of all places) listed in the order show that this case was likely to end badly for DCFS no matter what.
I’ve said this before, as long as the state doesn’t run its own facilities or have contracts with third parties that require them to take anyone that DCFS refers, DCFS will always be screwed when it comes to the worst cases. No private facility is going to want to take a chance on a kid like this, and she is going to end up falling through the cracks. Everyone in that courtroom, the judge, every attorney, and every caseworker will see it coming from a mile away, and will feel powerless to stop it.
I appreciate you, Rich. And I do. The judge either didn’t want to see as much media attention for the ruling, or simply didn’t realize that the public would be better informed on a Monday morning.
I really had assumed that this would be something that would have made it through the weekend but I guess it will just bide its time until someone wants to run on their record.
I received a mail from the Proft-supported slate for Lyons Township High School and noticed there was not a disclaimer as to who paid for it. Is a disclaimer required? I am sure someone here would know the answer.

Same goofy judge who kept holding the Director in contempt for press coverage and the appellate court reversed every ruling as legally incorrect.

Dominic Longo with Vallas? the picture of the old guard keeps filling in. what a goof.

Vallas has always been a cog in the machine…clear as Black and White.
