The farmers out here in West Central Illinois are itching to get going. Augers being cleaned and repaired, combines being moved around, seed crates stashed indoors while the weather keeps changing, etc.
Every year, the same “First Rites of Spring” rituals. Good luck farmer friends. May your planting season go very well.
You can tell it is Spring Break at the train station for sure. Getting to park even closer than normal (which is way closer than I could park pre-COVID)

Starting to get excited for opening day at Sox Park on Monday. Weather should be good (55-60 degrees) and we have tickets for good seats.
I realize there’s a series in Houston prior to this but the new season doesn’t seem real until the home opener.
Had a little laugh when Bailey’s latest drifted through my social media feeds - now selling t shirts - “Don’t Blame me - I voted for the Farmer”. Interesting “store” on his campaign website. Maybe we’ll see them on the folks fussing about the mobile clinic in Clay county?/s

Monday, White Sox home opener, official first day of spring. I remember hitchhiking home from SIU to attend in ‘76. Ahh, youth.
Had some big snowflakes falling down for about 5 minutes up here by the Wisconsin border a few minutes ago, so I’m not breaking out the summer clothes quite yet. But spring is getting closer.
Had a re-enactment of “The Birds” here early this morning:)
At least a thousand (or more) blackbirds flocked in and landed on all the trees for about 10 minutes before taking off to the southeast. Quite the cacophony (banned punctuation). I witnessed this last year, too. Might have happened in other years, but commuting to work had me away from the farm those years.
We’re lucky enough ours live just 9 houses up the street from us. They drop in for a few hours most days after school. They’re great kids but I need to make a grocery run after last week …
On spring break in Texas enjoying the beautiful weather and of course the grand kids. this has become a ritual for the ms. and me since the 1st grand kid was born and son/DIL moved here. Not looking forward to returning this weekend as had some great weather here that we enjoyed while at the park each day. Thank you Rich and Iasbel for keeping us informed.
Ugh. My dog just got political mail. From another dog. On behalf of an city council candidate in Springfield. The main reason for endorsing is because the candidate is the dog’s best friend. I thought that was kinda cute, but in general…no. I don’t share the candidate’s view of what is “cute” or what is “effective.” But, it takes all kinds. Got my attention, anyway.

Planning to ice skate today for the first time in about 10 years. Hoping my ankles can take it.

Can’t wait for the break. Hoping the Senate won’t follow the House’s example and run late on Friday.

You know you do not have to go to the abortion clinic if it bothers you. Cheer up. That clinic is not about you.
