Saw the news that ProPublica, Lee Enterprise Midwest and Capitol News Illinois won the Robert F. Kennedy Domestic Print Award for the work on “Culture of Cruelty” that covered the abuses at the Choate Mental Health facility that included beating patients, concerted efforts to cover up abuse and neglect as well as intimidation of employees who reported issues.
We have some very good writers inIllinois.
As they say “if it doesn’t make the page it doesn’t hit the stage”. These publications made sure the Choate story “made the page”.
Congratulations to these folks for winning this prestigious award.
And the Cardinals lay egg, after egg, after egg. Sigh. I think they are even more disappointing than the White Sox.

Sox took care of business yesterday with a strong closing and finally won a series, against the division leader. Fun to watch. For their woes, glad they’re not the Boston Bruins who had the best record in history but lost right away in the playoffs.
