Almost five inches of rain from 4:00 PM yesterday up to 6:30 AM today. Fields are flooded and creeks out of their banks. Low lying areas this morning look like lakes out here in the southern part of Sangamon County.
Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky visits the village of Algonquin for the first time since the IL-09 redistricting included all of Algonquin Township in McHenry County.
I plan to attend and discuss a couple of issues with the congresswoman.
There was a full blown tree in the middle of the road out of my little cul de sac this morning, south side of Springfield. Damaged a light post on the way down, hard to see any more in the dark (I was walking my dog at like 5, sun wasn’t up yet).
3 rounds of hail. Golf ball variety. Little siding chips now litter my yard. About 4.5 inches of rain. Many leaves stripped from trees. May be suffering from ptsd. Have not checked the roof but fear the worst. Will be testing the quality of my insurance company today…
Was driving home last night south into the dark clouds. I thought I was going to make it through without any rain until I hit the Kankakee/Will County border. Near Manteno hit a wall of rain with some small hail mixed in. I very nearly had to pull over since the rain was so heavy. Rain had stopped by the time I got to Bourbonnais and the roads weren’t even wet there.
Last time I was in a setting with a member of Congress in-person was Nov 1 with Congressman Bill Foster (D, IL-11) at the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce.
He lauded one of my articles about his opponent, but the highlight was my 12-minute exchange with him during the roundtable on his votes against independent contractors through his support of the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act.
Foster threw talking points at me — not good when I’ve heard them and more for over 2 years on this issue.
Now that independent contractors had their day in the U.S. House Workforce Protections Subcommittee last month including the PRO Act discussion, I have testimony from IC witnesses (including an associate of mine from New Jersey) to talk about.
We’ll see what happens, especially in my hometown, but since Congresswoman Schakowsky has the same voting record as Foster, popcorn time?
60827 (Village of Riverdale) apparently missed all the heavy weather; little bit of rain was all I saw and heard. Not even usual puddles in usual places.
Sorry to hear about other’s storm issues; had a car hailed-damaged years ago, and have to cover a storm sewer sometimes lest my basement flood.

Congratulations?
Crazy weather following this long state (North to South) and nothing to mess with, so stay safe.

Yikes.
The hail by me didn’t look big enough to cause serious damage, but it did get loud. I guess I should have my roof checked.

Also beware. Grifting contractor already approached my wife this morning as she tended our wounded flowers. These leaches work fast.

Welp, no one enjoys lauding themselves more than you?
That much is true.
You not understanding your own self serving (without buying ad space) is what’s confusing.
Don’t you get enough traffic on your writing from the far right
At least you’re not touting Lauf today.
