AFSCME state worker contract up for negotiations the past several weeks…concessions not looking too promising on either side…wonder if budget stalemate is part and parcel to some of the uncertainty of increase in wages and benefits coming soon…
- Born in the Shadows - Tuesday, May 23, 23 @ 8:34 am:
@CentralILCentrist - I’m tracking the collective bargaining agreement, Medicaid Omnibus, and whatever they decide on the Health Benefits for Immigrants program all being variables in the budget this year. I doubt they’ll do anything on the collective bargaining until veto though. Pay new rates from the current approp and backfill in the fall.
Looks like Oscar is loving the beautiful weather we’ve been getting. We took our Pup to a little league game last night about as perfect as an early summer night can be.
As someone who suffered through the Rauner years without a contract/budget/raises, I am confident that AFSCME and the administration will come to a fair agreement… but I’m inclined to agree with Born in the Shadows as to the timeframe and series of events. Funny how those years of uncertainty have led me to be more optimistic.

Not much. Still trying to find an effective way to commute from the northwest suburbs to the Loop post Kennedy construction.
How are you doing?
- CentralILCentrist - Tuesday, May 23, 23 @ 8:56 am:
@BITS, when is veto usually?
@Erown, I agree. I’m certain Oscar provides a reminder to slow down and enjoy the fine simplicity in life some days.

An Oscar photo is a sweet view after reading the grim report from the Attorney General today. Thanks, Rich.
