I was in Danville on Saturday (my son and I stayed there before going to the Indy 500 on Sunday). It also turned out to be the public opening day of the casino. There was a good-sized crowd. Also, the dealers were more than a little nervous, and we had to help one of them with their math from time to time when it came to blackjack. In general, it seems they have a few bugs to work out (not a surprise), and I wondered if there were gamblers who look specifically for new casino openings to play at places.
They don’t have a poker room. When I spoke to one of the manager types, they said they would likely not have one because it is hard to make money with one under Illinois rules. It’s a nice space, a bit smaller than I expected, and I think they will move around the table games a bit. They have a roulette wheel a bit too close to the entrance IMHO.
There was an extensive line for the steakhouse attached to the casino as well. Part of our pre-race ritual is to hit the Beef House just over the border in Indiana, which is a steak house suspect the new one isn’t going to help them.
Of course, I had to buy a couple of more plants this year just to be on the safe side.

I drove through Danville Saturday on my way to Georgetown/La Salette and didn’t see much of anything regarding the new casino. Did I just happen to take the right exit to avoid that crowd?
Liam Hendricks return was a great moment in a bad season for the Southsiders.

I saw most of an alleged news program on WMAQ 5 yesterday. It was essentially a half hour advert for the Arlington Heights stadium.

Got the latest Covid booster shot on Friday.
Thought it odd that it was injected into the side/back of my arm instead of the shoulder area as usual.
Googled it and sure ’nuff it’s supposed to be injected into the deltoid region of upper arm.
What gives? Don’t they train these people?
Walgreens.
On Fullerton.

I like Illinois’ weather from September to April. I could do without being back above 80°F today with 75% humidity.

Beautiful weather. Happy children on summer vacation. A lot of thank you letters to send out today!

I learned that Greek oregano is a perennial.
For a family with Greeks, that’s huge news.
Of course, I had to buy a couple of more plants this year just to be on the safe side.
