… good morning, especially to the McCaskey family, right?
Yesterday at this very time, the Bears franchise had a value of $5.8 billion, and this morning, after the $5.6 billion valued Washington Commanders sold for $6.05 billion…
The McCaskey’s, after getting lunch, maybe a cookie at the NFL meetings… they gained, easily, $240-450 million of worth… without doing anything but existing.
So, good morning McCaskeys, you lucky devils, just don’t cry poor when yesterday, around lunchtime, your genetic windfall increased, easily, by 1/3 of a billion, (yep, with a B)… dollars.
Beautiful, sunny day in West Central Illinois. Getting ready to head outside and do some more derecho clean up. Three weeks later, I think I am a third done. While it might sound weird, I feel blessed to own three acres of yard in rural America, and choose to see this as “stewardship” rather than a burden. Then again, I am a teacher, and thus can make the time. Others are much worse off - particularly farm families, who can’t simply stop farming to clean up the mess. I worry about them, their harvests, and their properties.
I was at a children’s hospital yesterday (everything is fine), and there were more unoccupied rooms than I have seen in a while. That is always good to see.
RIP Tony Bennett. The nights of the 9,11, and 1 o’clock shows are sadly over. Memories of Tony Bennett performing in the Empire Room in the Palmer House accompanied by the Ben Arden Orchestra.
Recovering from last night’s gym efforts.
160 pound seated cable rows.
Later today I get to mow my yard.
Need to walkthrough first picking up sticks and branches.

Earlier this week, Nick Raftopoulos (D) announced his run for House Representative District 111 to take on incumbent Amy Elik (R).
HD-111 is my State House district, and I personally know Raftopoulos. He made the announcement at Tuesday’s Granite City Township Democrats meeting.
