The great Ray Long very smartly comparing this season’s Cubs ball club collapse to the legend of the 1969 free fall gave me real perspective to these last Cubs’ series, including the debacle in Arizona.
If this is as good as Fields gets.then we can say for sure the old GM overpaid for QB twice and was not good at discernment when choosing a pro QB. If it is truly so the Bears should have a chance to pick a QB high and hopefully th current scouts and GM arw better at drafting a QB than the old staff.
I attended the Bears game in Tampa. That pick 6 on the 8 yard line is more on the OC than Fields. Yes, maybe the pass could have been thrown better but the Bears were calling that same play and formation all game. Tampa knew what was coming immediately and the LB adjusted to make the game winning play.
Game 2 leaves the Bears in great position for the Caleb Williams sweepstakes. Who am I kidding? You could give the Bears the next Mahomes and they would find a way to mess him up.
The Bears are the only team to have never had a 4000 yd passer. The leader? Erik Kramer, with 3838. In 1995. At this rate Fields won’t touch that even with a 17th game.
My sympathies to the hyperstorm flooding victims in the Southeast Suburbs of Chicago, I had 8-12 inches of water in my basement in Riverdale; several neighbors also had flooded basements. Waiting to see if my appliances, furnace and water heater will survive-letting them dry out to test them.

Cubs sinking, an (expected) Illini loss, Packers choked in the 4th quarter. Great sports weekend for me! At least the weather was nice in Central IL.
Hope everyone had a better sports weekend than I did!

Once again we ask the question: What if this is as good as Justin Fields ever gets??

Agreed. “We ruin quarterbacks” should be the team’s motto.

The bears have a very good QB sitting on the bench.
Once the season is all but over Badgent will rise to the top.

I suppose we’ll use the next 1st draft pick we earn to trade for the Eagles’ center and pretend like that was a good deal.
