These guys are perfectly in tune with the Fox News/Breitbart folks. If you get your news from anywhere else, Bost and Bailey sound like they’re living on a different planet.

  2. - Roadrager - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 3:15 pm:

A reminder that just because an idea is monumentally stupid, that doesn’t mean these people won’t be able to achieve it given the power.

  3. - Demoralized - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 3:20 pm:

It’s pretty funny to watch the “law and order” party trip all over themselves criticizing the FBI and trying to defund it. The Republican Party has shown you who they really are and it’s not a pretty picture. When they bow down to an individual who praises dictators and vows to act like one if he’s re-elected then this is the sort of ignorant rhetoric you get.

===If you get your news from anywhere else, Bost and Bailey sound like they’re living on a different planet.===

Thank you. I hadn’t heard the FBI was trampling on my rights, so I was a little confused (not /s). Can we take up a collection to help Bost and Bailey _actually_ live on a different planet? (I would /s, but it would actually be nicer if they lived on a different planet…)

  5. - PublicServant - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 3:24 pm:

They’re both dangerous to American democracy. Pretty sad that either one has a chance at the job.

  6. - Dotnonymous x - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 3:26 pm:

    Bailey is relentless…and tiresome…at once.

  7. - NotRich - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 3:40 pm:

I’m hoping the nutty one wins!!!! Oh wait.

  8. - Just Me 2 - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 3:41 pm:

=== same agency that busted Mike Madigan ===

And Rod Blagojevich, whom Bost is know for being the first to call for an impeachment.

  9. - vern - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 3:49 pm:

I assume that “defund the police” is a bad message for a downstate Republican primary. The back-the-blue, law-and-order Republican base surely won’t support this frontal assault on the brave men and women who protect us from child predators, human traffickers, and drug smugglers, right?

    Right?

  10. - Pundent - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 3:50 pm:

=Mike Bost OPPOSED an attempt to defund the building despite the many examples of the agency becoming politicized.=

What examples? Maybe they’re like the examples of a stolen election which we’ve seen no proof of and that other enablers have admitted were made up?

  11. - Give Us Barabbas - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 3:51 pm:

Defunding the IRS and FBI… are these guys secretly working for the Legion of Doom? Or just trying to pander to TFG, who is in trouble with both of those agencies? or right wing fanatic militia types building secret armies? Or to really rich GOP guys with something to hide? But I repeat myself…

  12. - very old soil - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 4:01 pm:

I wonder what Jim Sacia is thinking.

  13. - Homebody - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 4:08 pm:

I at least appreciate how much modern Republicans are making it obvious how everything they have ever said has had an implied “but not if it impacts Republicans” attached to it.

Back the blue? Not if they are going after Republicans. States rights? Not if the state disagrees with Republicans. Local control? Not if the locality votes against Republicans. Will of the voters? Not if the voters disagree with Republicans.

This keeps playing out over and over again across the country.

  14. - Lagartha's Shield - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 4:43 pm:

Bailey went for the whole MAGA bingo card with that post.

  15. - sal-says - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 4:52 pm:

    Insanity runs rampant. Wow.

  16. - Pundent - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 4:56 pm:

I can’t decide if life must be really good or really bleak in the 12th if these are the issues that will decide this race.

  17. - ArchPundit - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 5:01 pm:

Of all of the violations of citizens’ rights by the FBI over the years, these clowns jump on the time the FBI has done absolutely nothing wrong.

  18. - H-W - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 5:05 pm:

Bailey === it’s a slap in the face to every hardworking American who’s been targeted by this agency’s politicized leadership ===

Name “every” American you think has been targeted, surveilled, Darren. I bet you only have in mind. Maybe five. No more.

It is in that context that you and your ilk are the ones politicizing government. You claim to be a law and order party, but you attack law enforcement at every chance when they do their job and investigate criminal offenses committed by politicians.

Trump was convicted of rape. He is about to be convicted of tax fraud and banking fraud. He stole state secrets. He is accused of attempting to overthrow a federal election. And you and your ilk praise the demigod, and attack the policing agencies.

  19. - JS Mill - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 5:45 pm:

So the guy that claims to live in the light is angry that a man thrice married, adulterer, civilly found responsible for rape, says he could grab ‘em you know where, convicted liar and cheat is who you want law enforcement to go easy on?

Can you show me the passage in the King James that addresses that?

    I will wait.

  20. - Huh? - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 7:16 pm:

So the law and order types want to defund the law.

    Got it.

  21. - Lincoln Lad - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 7:21 pm:

Unfortunately both candidates reflect the thoughts and feelings of many of their voters. Unbelievable that this is where we are.

  22. - Frida's boss - Monday, Nov 13, 23 @ 11:32 pm:

Sadly Bost has to go full cray cray. He was always a fringe guy but he did know that the government had a job and needed to be funded, he’s now jumping the shark because his opponent is going full-on batsh&t nutty.

  23. - H-W - Tuesday, Nov 14, 23 @ 9:14 am:

    @ Lincoln Lad 7:21 pm

I have to wonder how moderate, independent and college educated voters feel living such a region represented by such hate, anger, distrust, parochialism, etc. Surely there are many there who are just hopeless given the form of “representation” foist upon them.

    Truly sad, and unAmerican.

  24. - workingfromhome - Tuesday, Nov 14, 23 @ 9:36 am:

“I won’t stand idly by while the FBI tramples” our wish to overthrow the government. Fixed it for him.

  25. - someonehastosayit - Tuesday, Nov 14, 23 @ 10:55 am:

===I have to wonder how moderate, independent and college educated voters feel living such a region represented by such hate, anger, distrust, parochialism, etc.===

Many good people are moving but they don’t always say all the reasons out loud so they can stay on speaking terms with friends and family.

  26. - Dotnonymous x - Tuesday, Nov 14, 23 @ 4:07 pm:

I wonder what other law enforcement agencies are on Bailey’s enemy list?

  27. - RNUG - Tuesday, Nov 14, 23 @ 4:43 pm:

Actually, there has been a lot of controversy over the proposed new FBI building. Even some in the FBI have been objecting to the chosen site.

  28. - Pundent - Tuesday, Nov 14, 23 @ 8:45 pm:

= Even some in the FBI have been objecting to the chosen site.=

Bailey doesn’t seem hung up on the site, he’s got much larger issues with the agency. Although maybe it comes down to a singular issue involving one particular person.

  29. - James in Little Italy - Thursday, Nov 16, 23 @ 2:23 pm:

Are they going to name the new building after J. Edgar or are we finally done with that?
