from up nw, it is really snowing hard. power going in and out. just heard 6 inches of snow in Cary. lots of accidents posted on line on all kinds of highways around chicago. stay safe.
Power has been out for an hour on far northwest side of the city. Looks like power outages all over the ComEd area. No estimate yet of power restoration. “Crews have determined that more resources are necessary”. Heh. Sould have gotten the Generac.
Other than that, the beauty of the freshly fallen snow…doesn’t do anything good for me or my back.
power, cable, internet going in and out NW. power out 15 min back on then in and out briefly. looks horrible out there but someone went out to buy food I’m sure because bourbon.
The snow this morning was really something else. It was like a thunderstorm, but with snow. Tree branches, mostly small, down all over the yard. Haven’t seen anything like that since the groundhog day blizzard.
Spent the last three days learning how to record songs. It’s going to be a long learning curve for sure, but I am already seeing progress. I recorded a 12-string rhythm track and a vocal track for “City Of New Orleans” in the manner of Steve Goodman. Now if I can only learn to clip out mistakes and insert good clips, I think this is going to be a fun hobby.
I’ve always loved winter and loved snow. Only downside is my bedroom has north facing windows, so on snowy mornings (or rainy, or just very cloudy) it is very easy to fall back asleep. Thank god for working from home, so my commute is only the length of a hallway. Otherwise I would be rolling into the office an hour late today.
Woke up at 1:30 to a light dusting. Woke up again at 4:30 to something over 2 inches, put car in garage. Went out at 7:00 to about 4 inches, blew snow off driveway and sidewalk.
Came back from visiting relatives in California a couple of weeks ago. They called today to see how we were doing and reminded me to look at the bright side. At least we got home with no problems, the last time we were there, we were delayed getting home by several days by the Denver airport blizzard/airline meltdown.
now it is raining up NW. the sidewalks are wet. things are turning slushy. if you have not shoveled yet, GO SLOW. it’s heavy. gonna get colder and ice up. driving later will be a bear.
Lull in the storm right now on the south side of Chicago. This mornings weather was something else. Made it to the gym and after one hour, came out to at least another inch on my car. Windy, wet and heavy. The cold blast approaching looks nasty.

My superintendent in District 155 (Crystal Lake, Cary) is known for his amazing snow day videos. He did not disappoint today.
Love the snow but the wife and back doesn’t. Anyway, snowmobiles are gassed up and will be heading out in about 1/2 hour to ride from Fox lake to Wis for dinner. Staying off the lakes! Gotta enjoy this and will have that Bowl of Chili this weekend. Drive safe if you are out.

Mom NOT super-thrilled to be working while I can hear them having fun in the next room. (I don’t begrudge them, I just wish I was them.)
