Read Up For Grabs was a very interesting book but also just finished Down Ballot by Patrick Wohl about the Penny Pullen Rosemary Mulligan Republican primary that ended in a tie and was used in Bush Gore for dimpled chads. Fascinating also shows how parties have changed
I came across it too late to post on Friday but it was sad to see that Glenda Miller, the former McHenry County Treasurer had passed. I enjoyed talking to her when passing through the courthouse. Condolences to her family and Paul Lis, her husband.
Sunny and cool here in beautiful DuPage County. Drinking coffee and trying to figure out the best way to occupy my time the next few months with the White Sox being so awful.

another book to check out is Working in the 21st Century by Mark Larson He was interviewed by Studs Terkel for one of his books and this book is written with the 50th anniversary of Studs’ WORKING in mind. Interviews with people in different fields many of whom are from Illinois
In the 60827, ComEd just dropped off a new utility pole off the pole trailer in my alley; looks like the pole and transformer across from my house will soon be replaced. (Yeah, I know, but it’s what’s going on by me this morning).
The Secretary of State’s business search function being down for maintenance midday on a Monday seems like an odd timing on their part. Couldn’t have scheduled that around normal business hours?

The Sox continue to stink up the joint. Swept over the weekend.
Then again, so were the Cardinals, at home.

you can see part of this in the changes going on at the old Sear headquarters in Hoffman Estates
