* Rep. Chris Miller (R-No Relation) rose on the House floor today to speak about the carbon capture bill

Transcript

Miller (no relation): Thank you, Madam Speaker. I would like to speak to this bill.

Leader Barbara Hernandez: Would you like her to yield sir?

Miller (no relation): No, I just want to talk about this bill.

Leader Hernandez: To the bill.

Miller (no relation): Thank you, Madame Speaker. You know, I think that one of the things that I’ve done over the last 50 years is I’m a farmer, and I raise cattle. And when we’re raising cattle, I raise a lot of bulls, you know, and after listening to all this stuff, my ol’ BS meter’s going, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING! Because what we’re seeing here is a myth about climate change…

* Just the dings

I gotta turn that into a ringtone.

I would call him a clown, but then again do not wish to insult clowns like that

Watching Wilhour and Halbrook backing up
Miller (no relation) gave me deja vu of the smart mouthed kids who sat in the back of the classroom in junior high

  3. - James - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 1:54 pm:

So Miller has the dings and Trump has the bings…got it.

  4. - fs - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 1:54 pm:

I would like to thank Rep Miller (no relation) for discussing enemas, which reminded me I need to schedule a colonoscopy.

  5. - Mike K - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 1:56 pm:

Wish I had some Florida ocean-front land to sell him.

  6. - JRM - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 2:04 pm:

I really need an Earth Enema Shirt.

I just do not understand how the same groups who tried killing nuclear energy because of “safety concerns” are now advocating for the building of more pipelines across the State in the name of “safety”.

    Make it make sense please.

=== Make it make sense please.===

It’s about comparing risks, including the risk associated with doing nothing. CO2 pipelines are relatively low risk compared with other things we might do to reduce the threat posed by pumping large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere. While nuclear power is considered to be carbon friendly; the nuclear cycle (mining to waste) has significant negative consequences that we seem unable to deal with.

Please share if you do make it a ringtone

  10. - Keyrock - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 2:42 pm:

Can we agree that District 101 secede from the State?

=== Please share if you do make it a ringtone ===

Creating the file is not a problem. Loading it as a ringtone on the phone has become more problematic. The process I used does not work for me anymore.

To the post. We have a lot of ding, ding, dings in the General Assembly.

  12. - ArchPundit - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 2:51 pm:

Think I figured it out. Really impressive how funny the other two think he is and not in the way most people think is funny

  13. - ArchPundit - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 2:56 pm:

I think I have it figured out Norseman—strangely difficult given the simplicity of just wanting to load a ringtone file.

  14. - Will Colquhoun - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 3:17 pm:

Are we 100% certain there’s no relation? The speechifying sounds he made strongly suggests he and Mary could be family.

  15. - Wobblies United - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 3:17 pm:

=== its about comparing risks ===

I totally get that and do not disagree, but if we think nuclear power and the risks associated with that are too great…I am just not sure how we rationalize building new pipelines across IL and call it safe.

Also, other countries have had great success in recycling nuclear fuel to be to make new fuel and byproducts, I do not believe that is an option with CCS…

  16. - Pot calling kettle - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 3:55 pm:

    ==Wobblies==

Every power source we use has some serious environmental consequences, from mining to use to waste. I would like the conversation to shift to a focus on being more efficient and using less energy and other resources. Recycling nuclear fuel should be part of the mix as should CO2 sequestration, especially in the interim.

With respect to pipelines, I feel like the CO2 pipeline stuff is a move akin to a kid looking for places to hide a mess they made without actually cleaning their room. That said, I’d rather have a new CO2 pipeline running past my home than a 50+ year old petroleum or natural gas pipeline. When I think of risks, CO2 pipelines are pretty far down the list and more problematic because they represent a continuing reliance on fossil fuels.

Whenever Rep. Miller speaks, my ol’ BS meter’s going, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING!

    Rep. Miller (no relation).
I knew Rep. Mike Bost and sir you are No Rep. Bost. (Papers flying__ channeling my inner Lloyd Bentsen).

  19. - Hank - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 4:23 pm:

I’ve never seen someone so proud to be so ignorant.

  20. - Hamilton - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 4:32 pm:

Crazy to see all those so excited for high volume hydraulic fracturing suddenly concerned about health and safety.

  21. - Pot calling kettle - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 6:12 pm:

==I’ve never seen someone so proud to be so ignorant.==

A few Florida men come to mind.

  22. - low level - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 6:57 pm:

==I knew Rep. Mike Bost and sir you are No Rep. Bost==

Or Bill Black. Still miss that guy.

  23. - Dotnonymous x - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 7:09 pm:

Miller should certainly be familiar with B.S…He’s issued a truckload.

  24. - West Side the Best Side - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 8:19 pm:

Rich - Why don’t you challenge him to to DNA test and maybe you could force him to change his name to stop dragging the Miller name into the mud or bull….

  25. - JoanP - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 8:25 pm:

    What a dingbat (pun intended).

  26. - TheSouthern - Saturday, May 25, 24 @ 10:31 pm:

Sounds like he’s spent some time in a casino. I thought Republicans were against those.
