Miller (no relation): Thank you, Madam Speaker. I would like to speak to this bill.
Leader Barbara Hernandez: Would you like her to yield sir?
Miller (no relation): No, I just want to talk about this bill.
Leader Hernandez: To the bill.
Miller (no relation): Thank you, Madame Speaker. You know, I think that one of the things that I’ve done over the last 50 years is I’m a farmer, and I raise cattle. And when we’re raising cattle, I raise a lot of bulls, you know, and after listening to all this stuff, my ol’ BS meter’s going, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING! Because what we’re seeing here is a myth about climate change…

I just do not understand how the same groups who tried killing nuclear energy because of “safety concerns” are now advocating for the building of more pipelines across the State in the name of “safety”.
Make it make sense please.

It’s about comparing risks, including the risk associated with doing nothing. CO2 pipelines are relatively low risk compared with other things we might do to reduce the threat posed by pumping large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere. While nuclear power is considered to be carbon friendly; the nuclear cycle (mining to waste) has significant negative consequences that we seem unable to deal with.
Creating the file is not a problem. Loading it as a ringtone on the phone has become more problematic. The process I used does not work for me anymore.
To the post. We have a lot of ding, ding, dings in the General Assembly.
I think I have it figured out Norseman—strangely difficult given the simplicity of just wanting to load a ringtone file.

I totally get that and do not disagree, but if we think nuclear power and the risks associated with that are too great…I am just not sure how we rationalize building new pipelines across IL and call it safe.
Also, other countries have had great success in recycling nuclear fuel to be to make new fuel and byproducts, I do not believe that is an option with CCS…

Every power source we use has some serious environmental consequences, from mining to use to waste. I would like the conversation to shift to a focus on being more efficient and using less energy and other resources. Recycling nuclear fuel should be part of the mix as should CO2 sequestration, especially in the interim.
With respect to pipelines, I feel like the CO2 pipeline stuff is a move akin to a kid looking for places to hide a mess they made without actually cleaning their room. That said, I’d rather have a new CO2 pipeline running past my home than a 50+ year old petroleum or natural gas pipeline. When I think of risks, CO2 pipelines are pretty far down the list and more problematic because they represent a continuing reliance on fossil fuels.
