I did not watch nor care to discuss the debate, but this was funny. My daughter who lives out-of-state texted me that they are talking about Springfield, Illinois. Then, a text came about 90 seconds later that said never mind, Springfield, Ohio.
Fully expecting that the knobs in charge of the Hawks and Bulls won’t have a meaningful television deal by the time their respective seasons start for their new channel. Imagine killing a perfectly practical and widespread TV network only to possibly replace it with a suggestion to get an antenna.
Also, real talk… I was born in the 80s, I distinctly remember when the internet first became a thing, and how we were told and raised for years to obviously not believe everything we see on the internet.
Why the heck are so many boomers failing to remember that adage these days? Fearmongering over immigration is a tale as old as time, but how are there so many bozos that think that dudes are out there mass eating pets?
The confusion about Springfield reminds me of my extreme disappointment in The Simpsons not choosing Springfield, IL as their Springfield. Some things I just can’t let go, haha.

Eh, I get that, but their Springfield was pretty clearly Springfield, Oregon.

Belated kudos to NIU for a great upset victory last weekend against Norte Dame—also to the Fighting Illini and Bears for their wins.

Illinois-adjacent, but was surprised to read yesterday that the US men’s soccer team was able to hire arguably the best free-agent coach in the world due to a “significant” donation from Ken Griffin to cover the salary. Guess he’s spreading his wealth beyond Chicago endeavors and Republican candidates.
“the most common city name in the U.S. (regardless of population) is Franklin.”
Is it?
There are 41 Springfields.
There are 35 Franklins.
But…
There are 88 Washingtons - which I assume is more than 50 for reasons similar to how Wisconsin names places(Wisconsin somehow has SEVEN Washingtons).
Washington, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin
Washington, Green County, Wisconsin
Washington, La Crosse County, Wisconsin
Washington, Rusk County, Wisconsin
Washington, Sauk County, Wisconsin
Washington, Shawano County, Wisconsin
Washington, Vilas County, Wisconsin

One of the candidates for the new Sangamon County Sheriff is a former Raunerite candidate from 2016:

Fun fact with ties to Illinois, the most common city name in the U.S. (regardless of population) is Franklin.

So it turns out the sugar and oats were for a meal-packing event at Union Station today, which has a ton of sponsors.
