Voted in person today (partner just got able to walk down the stairs this past weekend). He was using a cane and the election judges were very accommodating. Gave him a chair while he waited in line. And there was a line, even though there weren’t a lot of voters, with only 2 voting machines per precinct, that took time.
My daughter is in line at UIUC and says they are being told it will be hours (the wait) and they encouraged those at the back of the line to go elsewhere. But she said she has heard all the lines are hours long on campus.
Desi Anderson is serving as a poll Watcher at the Bone Student center. She is literally watching her campaign go down the tubes as over 2400 students had voted as of 5pm.
We were busy all day with a crowd waiting to vote when we opened our four precinct voting due in North Normal. We had over 800 as of 6 pm. The rain has stopped and s few voters are trickling in. I imagine that with Early Voting and Vote By Mail usage at a record high we had the biggest turnout surpassing 2020.

Absolutely pouring in Bloomington-Normal at the moment. Would not at all be surprised if after-working voting turnout gets depressed as a result.
And as someone that previously always used to vote after work, thank goodness for early voting.

Pouring in Naperville too

There are multiple precincts that are at almost 100% turnout in some of the collars. It’s madness.

I voted in my precinct at 5pm. No line. Rainy but warm, so I didn’t feel sorry for the passers. The judges had good pizza and were in good spirits.
