One day after the Rochester superintendent story broke, now it’s Springfield District 186’s turn for unfavorable news. Fight forces stoppage of Southeast-Lanphier boys basketball game during the first quarter:
Thawing out in Illinois. The Midwest has been luckier than the west, south, and east due to various storms and climate changes. Mother nature is trying to tell us to change the current chaos in climate policy. Climate migration is going to be a major issue to watch in the future.

After more than four decades of living in northern Illinois, I finally made it to Starved Rock last week. Beautiful park and since it was winter, there were no crowds.
I loved the lodge. It has a real Overlook Hotel vibe to it.
Uh-oh. The head of the L.A. school district was just on and reported that they have lost a high school as well as other property due to the out-of-control fire spreading across the area. In comparison Mayor Johnson’s and CPS problems look a lot smaller.

Gulf of America guy probably doesn’t even know Mexico is part of North America. If someone tells him he’ll try to make Mexico the 52d state.
It’s Wednesday but it feels like Friday or Saturday. lol

Feel like keeping the Christmas decor up until at least Groundhog Day this year.
Unless I am worried about my tree drying out I usually keep it up until at least Jan. 7 anyway in honor of my Eastern Orthodox grandmother but I feel like I need to hold on to Christmas a bit longer this time.
The Mayor of Los Angeles (Karen Bass) is absent during the wild fire crisis. She is on a diplomatic trip to Ghana. Her last budget cut millions from the fire department too.
California is a beautiful state that suffers due to the fact that it is governed by Californians.

The recent cold snap has meant big business for HVAC service companies. Plenty of older boilers and furnaces began to conk out as of last Friday.

Looking out my window at Lake Illinois. Folks a bit further south are looking at Lake Indiana. Go north, and it’s Lake Wisconsin.

Yah, but LA’s mayor isn’t the one who started the fire.

Keep your tree up until Orthodox Epiphany, which is 1/19.

@JoanP
I was thinking Feb. 2 to take full advantage of the entire Epiphanytide and I believe Candlemas is that day.
