Our Agency decided that OMB withdrew this stop in Federal funding but they do not believe it to be the last, so I still get to work on it for the next few days. The work just increases with fewer and fewer people. *whining over*
I was in disbelief when I read that the Supreme Court of Illinois recently denied 149 petitions for leave to appeal out of a total of 152 petitions filed.
Blockbuster press conference in Moline. Four year old child was in her residence for nine hours after mother falsely reported she was in a car that was stolen from their driveway. There was a massive emergency and public mobilization looking for her. As the press conference closed out and cut back to the news room the co-anchors looked and sounded absolutely stunned and emotional, apparently no one had any hint this was coming. Good questions from the reporters at the press conference. If they post a link to the complete press conference I will pass it on.
Occasionally Moderated, what a story. The police chief seemed very well-prepared and did a great job. I do appreciate how the officers took the stance of believe the mother first, find the child, then ask questions about how this happened. I just hope that this situation doesn’t negatively impact future Amber Alerts.
I wish I could have found a version that just had the police chief speaking without added photos and video.
There teased “more information” on the news and I don’t think anyone expected that.
This news market had a story out of Davenport where a little girl disappeared and was later found murdered. It was a terrible crime and similar efforts were made to find her. No one will ever not take a missing child for granted here for a really long time.
A tidbit from my many years as a police officer- when a small child is missing, they are often in their house. They will tend to hide because they think that somehow they are in trouble. The house has to be searched very thoroughly and parents are often not happy about the time it takes to do that. This is a different twist on that theme.

Enjoying the heat wave here in beautiful DuPage County. If we’re going to have global warming might as well have it in January.
