Like many other schools we started ACT testing today. The system crashed and most cannot get in to test. Awesome!
If you want to know why scores are low, technical issues have been pervasive for years. Paper tests are totally reliable and research says kids do better with paper and pencil tests.
Got a flyer in the mail yesterday telling me about a spring sale at the local cemetery. I can save 20% on a full burial package. Do they know something I don’t know??
If you are actually trying to get into the State Journal Register website as of now (shortly before 3:30), the web address is still the same but you get redirected to the Louisville Courier Journal’s page. With no Springfield headlines.
Same deal with the Peoria Journal Star and Rockford Register Star.
Hopefully it is just maintenance or updates but this seems to me like a precursor to every local newspaper going USA Today-esque and having little or no “local news.” While raising print and online subscriptions and upholding the virtues of “investing in journalism.”

It’s April 8, 2025. Where is Dick Durbin’s retirement press release?

To be fair, he’s very busy watching others oppose Trump.

In 2002, I got on an elevator alone with Dick Durbin. He gave me a look as if we was expecting me to recognize and acknowledge him.
Anyway, I didn’t and I got off the elevator at the next floor. The Senator, however, seems to still be enjoying the ride.

Can you imagine if a Democrat was crashing the stock market and talking about “economic revolution”

That alone should inform voters as to Durbin’s proper decision…if not Durbin.
