I never knew that the band existed, but apparently in at least the late 70s there was a band called “Velvet Hammer” signed to Soozi Records in Chicago (somewhere in the 60020 zip code aka Beverly).
Velvet Hammer’s tunes might be appropriate weekend closing music today, depending on or regardless of what decision comes out of Dearborn between Adams and Jackson today.
Here’s Velvet Hammer’s 1977 song, “Happy.” Youtube also has a few others:

Maybe not for everyone, but for those with a musical bent, this video explains just how complicated “God Only Knows” is at a harmonic level. It helps us understand why Brian Wilson deserved the title of musical genius.
My weekend plans are to listen to the “Endless Summer” comp and “Pet Sounds” in their entirety on vinyl, volume dimed with all of my windows open.
It’ll certainly make for an odd soundtrack in contrast with the current state of the world.

I don’t know how long it will last, but for those who have Sirius XM radio active in their cars, or on some other device, their Channel 79 is all “Beach Boys”. Have heard “God Only Knows” several times. Find myself lingering in the car when I reach my destination to hear a song finish.

“God Only Knows” video is pretty funny.
After that long explanation of the complex technicalities that went into the creation of the song, they interview Brian Wilson who says the songs just emerge from his brain.
Exactly. The creative process.
It has begun. Traffic blocked by protesters in Chicago streets. Belmont-Cragin and Six Corners neighborhoods. Police cars scrambling as Cicero Avenue has been taken over by cars driven by persons displaying Latin American flags.
