What: ILGOP Chairman Schneider holds press call to discuss Madigan Family attempt to block employee pay
Call in information: Call-In: 1-857-216-6700, Passcode: 905279 [Numbers updated]
Today, the Illinois Republican Party added Attorney General Lisa Madigan to BossMadigan.com after her action to shut down state government.
Check out the page and watch the ILGOP’s new digital ad here: BossMadigan.com/Lisa-Madigan/
No one has benefited more from Mike Madigan’s political machine than Lisa Madigan. Mike helped jumpstart Lisa’s political career when she was just 32 years old and was elevated to the state senate. Just four years later, Mike helped make her Attorney General. She’s now been the state’s top prosecutor for more than a dozen years.
While corruption ran wild through Illinois, Lisa Madigan did little. Even as patronage scandals circled the Speaker’s office, Lisa could find no wrongdoing. Still, Lisa was held to be above politics.
Until now.
After months and months of waiting, Lisa suddenly and without warning filed a court motion to block state employees from getting paid.
Her action could force a major crisis of state government and hurt thousands of Illinois families. With a government shutdown, the lives and livelihoods of those who rely on and provide vital government services would be in danger. Not surprisingly, this is the exact type of crisis Mike Madigan wants.
It’s now clear: Lisa Madigan is working for the Speaker, not the people.
ILGOP Chairman Tim Schneider Statement on Madigan Family Attempt to Block Employee Pay
“Lisa Madigan is playing politics with state workers, their families, and millions of Illinoisans who rely on government services. It’s clear that Mike and Lisa Madigan are working together to protect the status quo and stop reform by causing a crisis.” - Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider
Resorting to the courts to settle issues of constitutionality is apparently a transgression for state Republicans. Better to call the courts corrupt and ignore the Constitution. We don’t need no stinkin’ courts and no stinkin’ Constitution. Note the dropped “g”’s.

I wish she would run for governor in 2018 imagine if we had a governor that would do his/her job.

Speaker Madigan has played for keeps his entire career and has not cared what people think about his approach. A decent chunk of his staff helped get Lisa elected AG in 2002. What goes around comes around.
Perhaps the reporters on the call will ask the Illinois GOP chair the governing philosophy behind favoring that billions be spent without appropriation and by court orders.
Why is that a good thing, according to the leaders of the Illinois GOP?
The Gov’s staff better go back and look at the Munger race real quick.. The ‘because Madigan” didn’t get her elected, she had to run on her dismal record..BVR will have to do the same….crap like this will NOT get us a budget and the Gov will wear the jacket in 18
Don’t know if I’m being overly sensitive or not, but the reference to a duly elected state constitutional officer as “Lisa”, I find to be offensive and disrespectful.
Disagree all day long with her actions, question her motives, but give her the respect she is due and refer to her by her title or at least Ms. Madigan.

This is offensive, insulting, sexist, demeaning, inaccurate, hypocritical and pandering to haters.
“Speaker Madigan has played for keeps his entire career and has not cared what people think about his approach. A decent chunk of his staff helped get Lisa elected AG in 2002. What goes around comes around.”
A political party helping one of its own win an election. I’m shocked.
And this whole thing is really, really low. Any accusation of collusion between the Speaker and the AG had better be backed up by actual evidence. Whatever the respective drawbacks of either of them, neither is stupid enough to risk their careers or even possibly disbarment by colluding behind the scenes.
As a republican I have to say today, stop it already! What is wrong with this Governor and the Illinois Republican Party? It’s like watching a bar fight go down on the titanic. Who cares the motivations for Lisa Madigan’s filing…Lead already! Work toward a solution. This is not a death match, this is supposed to be a representative republic, and a large number of Illinois residents are democrats who elect their reps and senators to reflect their views. Stop with the sniping, and get it done. sheesh…..
It’s a very compelling piece, well presented, paced right and effective.
Who will it be effective with? Whatever small middle group that hasn’t formed an opinion on this to date. The science is to figure out if that number of people is enough to tip the scales.
–her action could force a major crisis of state government and hurt thousands of Illinois families.–
What a load. Its rauner’s failure to get a budget that is causing a crisis and hurting thousands. Not she-madigan following the constitution. Durkin and radogno and their caucuses are complicit.
If the facts are against you, argue the law. If the law is against you, argue the facts. If the law and the facts are against you, pound the table and yell like hell - Carl Sandburg
==Why do I have the feeling you know the guys that made it? Lol.===
Fight that feeling 47. I don’t.
I’m not passing judgement on the message. I’m suggesting that the video meets it’s objective. I’m not sure how big the audience is for this. But the production quality of the video is extremely well done. Especially compared with so many others we are asked to rate. I rated it.

Actually that’s an old aphorism dating to before 1911. He repeated it in 1936, but online investigations can’t confirm who originated it. I like it and use it a lot.
Saluki +1. If the GOP wants to act like 5 year olds, I’m sure Big Brother, Surviver, Real Housewives of Springfield will be casting for their next season soon.
Tim,
You can accuse them of “playing politics”, which is ludicrous, she is following the law.
Conversely, rauner is trying to eviscerate State employees, along with every social service providing assistance to people in need. Nothing positive has happened since his election.

This is just completely offensive. At the same time, I must admire the Republicans for playing the game so ruthlessly and, apparently, effectively.

Elevated? I think they must mean elected. Because she was elected. I remember. I was there. I voted for her. Happily and without prompting.

Rauner elevated Avery Bourne to the House when she was just 22. Sounds like two can play the game you are accusing Madigan of.

If the Republicans actually think suing to block employee pay is “causing a crisis” - i.e., that a crisis didn’t already exist - that explains a lot.
